this afternoon, Roger asked me to marry him in two years. I haven't answered yet (I'm still a little gun-shy of marriage), but I am most likely going to tell him yes.

 Wow:eek:
Good Luck with your decision..:)

You have only been divorced for 2 months and are considering getting hitched again?

WOW you are brave.

Good Luck

I have been separated for a longer time and the marriage was over a long, long time before that for all intents and purposes. Roger has been my best friend and boyfriend for a combination of 2 years. He also helped me get my kids from my ex and is excellent with them. He also treats me extremely well. Also, he's giving me two years to actually get used to the idea.

Congratulations!

Out of curiousity, why in 2 years?

Congrats!! I met my now dh when I had only been seperated from my x 7 months. We dated 4 years before we married. I wouldn't rush into anything but dont rule out anything either. I for sure did a much better job picking the 2nd time than I did the first, lol. I'm sure you did too!

Jill,
a) to give me some time to get used to the idea
b) to give us time to plan

HOneywolf if you need time to get use to the idea then chances are it isn't the time. I am not saying end the relationship or anything like that but take time to breathe and enjoy the relationship and let it grow without pressures of where it is heading.

Spinning, it's honestly not as much to get me used to the idea of being married again (but I am understandably nervous because Thom did a complete 180 after I married him) as it is because I want a nice wedding (my wedding the first time was nice, but I want something a little more elegant and that takes time to plan.) I should have listed them in reverse order, I guess. Living with him is going wonderfully.

You know, I don't know if you're serious or not but I would love to do so.....the kids would love it, too. I don't know if we could afford it, though.

Oh how romantic Becki! :) Good luck whatever you decide to do...and start saving for that Disney wedding or honeymoon! ;)

Well, I've convinced myself that I can do this. I'll tell the truth....I always felt like a failure because I couldn't meet all of Thom's conditions for our marriage and I couldn't make it work even though I was willing to forgive everything that he did to me and because I couldn't change him. That and the 180 degree turn around are what scared me about marriage a second time (the fear that I might fail again-even though I honestly did everything I could to make Thom happy, I just couldn't make him happy.) I know that Roger is a different person than Thom and that he truly loves me (and everybody knows I love him more than anything or anybody-except my kids) so I can't see any reason that our marriage won't work. I have by the way learned something lately by watching Dr. Phil and from my Psych classes.....I enabled Thom's behavior by trying to change myself to please him. I let him get away with it and that's why he did it.

Only you know your heart and how strong your relationship is with Roger. Best Wishes.:D

I think this answers your question.

Congratulations!

He sounds like a great guy!! Congrats!!!

I have been divorced for 16 yrs and been living with the love of my life for 12 yrs

He gave me a diamond ring 3 yrs ago and we might get married in about 3 yrs maybe ( I don't want to rush into it hahaha)

Why don't you get engaged then go from there (planning the wedding and such).

I, too, wouldn't be ready for marriage that quick after a divorce. Have you ever had any "alone" time in your adult life? I think that is very important. Find yourself before you become a part of another marriage.
