My Disney watches don't last too long

First of all, I just love watches, so in combination with my love of Disney........I am addicted!!!!!! Over the years I have purchased many many watches for myself and my family......They don't seem to last very long -- 1 to 2 years, and then they are broken, the strap is worn and can't be replaced, or after battery replacement, they still don't work. Just last week my echo powered (light powered, no battery) isn't working. Now I need to send it back yadayadayada. Now I know they can be sent to the manufacturer, but what a hassle. Anyone else out there experience this or is it just me?????

I have many Diney watches as well but hae not experienced what you have. The only problems I have had is losing some of the gold plating from a metal band due to wear and tear, but the watch still works just fine.

I've had trouble with the ones made by Lorus. Just conk out after a year and no it's not the battery. Several friends of mine have had the same thing happen.

The ones made by Timex seem to hold up better. I also bought a Skagen one last fall. It was a splurge so I hope it fares better.

I saw on another web site that Sieko is coming out with three new lines of Disney watches. Some are retro and have comic strip themes to them. Can't wait to see them!

My Swiss Army Mickey is the only Disney watch I've had that's lasted. It better for $300.00! I don't understand why Disney stopped their partnership with Swiss Army--finally a quality watchmaker.

DS has had 2 watches break and his best friend got one
in June-it's already broken, normal wear. the mode button
doesn't work.

I only have a couple and so far none of them have shown any signs of dying on me (one is about 2-3 years old as well). My favorite by far is the Skagen I just bought in May... I have had great luck with that brand so I presume this watch will be around for many years to come

My mom has had a problem with Disney watches. She loves the watches that have a chain of Mickey heads for the band but both times she has bought one the band has broken with in a matter of months. In my opinion, they are very poorly made.

I have about 10 Disney watches.
No problems at all......just batteries wearing out.
I think I need a new one though An Italian charm one

I just got a Mickey Citizen eco-drive for my bday in July. I was told that the battery should hold up for 5 years. I sure hope so considering the $$ that was spent on it!

I have had lots of trouble with the watches - they work for about a year and a half and then when I replace the batteries they still do not work. I've gone through two mickeys, two poohs and a pluto. I keep buying them though - it helps justify such frequent trips to WDW! I'll be stocking up soon!

My DW bought her first pooh watch at fort wilderness 1994, have only replaced battery but never a problem with the watch I have 11 watches all disney all work great, but would love them if they could build a good band.Just got my dvc watch Really nice had to take links out of mine and dw. She loves hers also.

I have a Goofy watch that I purchased for $12 from an advert in the Disney Channel Magazine about 10 years ago. The band didn't last very long, but other than that, the watch has been bullet-proof. Funny thing that you should mention batteries though as mine just ran out of juice last Thursday and I need to get to Wal-Mart to get a replacement. The battery seems to last a very long time in this one.

I had a problem getting the back on again after replacing the battery. Ended up denting the back from pressing too hard.

I have a 16 year old Lorus Mickey watch my parents got me at WDW. The battery only lasts about 3 or 4 months now, and the jeweler said it's a Lorus so don't bother to replace it--if it was a seiko, she said, she'd advise sending it back. So I'll keep putting batteries in it .
I also have a Mickey I got at WDW 2 years ago. The the little part of the band that sticks in the hole broke off, and I didn't wear it for over a year. I thought I had to replace the whole band, and I couldn't find another red one. Finally a jeweler just put another part on--unfortunately the part of the band it tucks into is gone, but it still works out OK.
My first instinct was to take it into the watch shop at WDW(MK) the next time we went, but I was immediately told they do no services and no, had no idea where to get a new band. I think they get asked questions about broken watches a LOT.

I have 3 Disney watches, and aside from the normal wear and tear on the watchbands and having the batteries replaced, they've lasted an average amount of time I guess! The oldest in my collection is 6 years old.
