Thanks in advance for helping find answers to my questions... I know there is a wealth of information about the My Disney Experience site, but I must have missed, or couldn't find answers to my questions. I was on line with IT this morning, but I didn't have any more time to linger and ask questions (I was on the phone for almost an hour).

Anyways, here are my questions/issues:

My Mom, Dad, Sisters, Husband – everyone has an account. I created ones for the kids (all little- younger than 18) but so did my Mom. And maybe my sister did as well, I’m not sure. I’ve added them all as my family/friends, do they now have to reciprocate? So does everyone have to “friend” everyone else so that we are properly linked? How do we do that with the kids?

My DM has got tickets for all of us, if she links the tickets for us all will it show up on my profile? What about the kids? If she is the one to link the tickets does that mean she will have to schedule all the FP+ times? How does booking FP+ for the whole group work?

I have a good amount of time before our FP+ booking widow opens (the CM was very grateful my call this morning wasn’t an ASAP emergency), but only 53 days until ADRs… If I end up calling instead of doing the ADRs online, how do you then link those to MDE?

One more: My dad may stay with his cousin the last few days of our trip, and not be on our room reservations. He would be golfing mostly, but may join us in the parks on occasion. How does that affect things like scheduling FP+?

I know, a lot of questions so thanks so much for any help or input…

Great questions, but I have no idea. Sorry! Am bumping so someone more knowledgeable can help you.

Whoever has access to the kids account is the only person to accept friend requests from family members on their behalf

Hmmm, it wasn't necessary to create separate accounts for the children, so I'm not sure how that would work. You may end up having a lengthy check in. Have you tried linking the reservation number to their accounts? I'd call IT and see what they have to say. Good luck!

I can answer the ADR question. If you call and make your ADR's with a person, you gather the confirmation numbers and can enter them into MDE later.

I did that on my last trip. I also had issues where sometimes they showed on MDE and sometimes not so I made sure I also added them into my Tripit account so I had them handy if I needed them.

The bug where now you see them, now you don't might be fixed since this was for my September trip so hopefully you won't have that issue.

Duffy,
Have you found answers yet? We just made room only ressies for upcoming trip and are behind you as far as MDE, FP+, bands, and ticket ordering.

1) We are a family of 5. I (DH) am the only one who has a disney account (and therefore MDE). Can I make accounts for everyone else? Or does each person in the family need to make their own accounts with their own password?

2) I presume that once everyone has an account, you can link them so that all the FP+ and room reservations, etc can somewhat be tied together.

3) Is it helpful for each person to have their own account in a sense that they can make use of it on their own iphone apps?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can answer my or OPs questions...

DuffyLover -

The first thing you need to do is make sure there is only one profile for each person. That profile can be managed by someone else, but there can only be one profile per person.

If you, your mother and your sister have all created profiles for the kids, and those profiles are all already linked to reservations and ADRs you have quite a mess to sort out. Personally, I would call IT at (407) 939-7765. Before you call make sure you have your sister and mother's log in emails so they can access all of the accounts.

Once everything is sorted out and there is only one profile per person, then you can link to each other.

You don't want to make accounts for everyone, you want to make profiles in your account for them. While everyone can have his/her own account it isn't necessary.

2) I presume that once everyone has an account, you can link them so that all the FP+ and room reservations, etc can somewhat be tied together.

If all of the profiles are in your account there is no need to link them. You will be able to make FP+ selections for everyone.

In our family, each of the adults has his/her own account. Anyone under 18 has a profile in my account. You will need to link your account to anyone who makes his or her own account, along with any profiles that he/she manages. First, make a profile for them in your account. Then click on Invite next to their name and follow the prompts. They will have to accept your invitation and then your accounts will be linked.

Thanks in advance for anyone who can answer my or OPs questions...

Hope that helps. :)

Does each person need to create their own profile? By this, I mean with their own email and login? Or can one person with an email and login create multiple profiles?

Oops, disregard this, you answered everything above. Thanks,

Okay...digging in a bit more...The first thing you need to do is make sure there is only one profile for each person. That profile can be managed by someone else, but there can only be one profile per person.

If you, your mother and your sister have all created profiles for the kids, and those profiles are all already linked to reservations and ADRs you have quite a mess to sort out. You cannot remove them from an ADR without putting someone else in their place and only Disney can remove them from a resort reservation. Personally, I would call IT at (407) 939-7765 (press #2). Before you call make sure you have your sister and mother's log in emails so the IT CM can access all of the accounts.

If the profiles have not been linked to resort or dining reservations then you can simply delete them. Just go to My Family and Friends and click on the Edit button next to the profiles you want to delete.

Once everything is sorted out and there is only one profile per person, then you can link to each other. You should have the profiles for anyone in your immediate family that you want to manage and your mother should have those profiles that she wants to manage in her account. Then you can link up so that everyone can see everyone else.

My DM has got tickets for all of us, if she links the tickets for us all will it show up on my profile? What about the kids? If she is the one to link the tickets does that mean she will have to schedule all the FP+ times? How does booking FP+ for the whole group work?

Do not have her link the tickets until your user accounts are sorted out. You already have a lot to deal with. Adding tickets to the current situation will create more of a headache.

Once everything is sorted out you can link the tickets. She can link those for the profiles she manages. You can link those for the profiles you manage, etc. Once your accounts are correctly linked you can all make FP+ for yourselves or for the entire group.

I have a good amount of time before our FP+ booking widow opens (the CM was very grateful my call this morning wasnt an ASAP emergency), but only 53 days until ADRs& If I end up calling instead of doing the ADRs online, how do you then link those to MDE?

If they don't automatically show up in My Reservations, you just enter the confirmation numbers in the dining section.

One more: My dad may stay with his cousin the last few days of our trip, and not be on our room reservations. He would be golfing mostly, but may join us in the parks on occasion. How does that affect things like scheduling FP+?

If it does not cause you to exceed occupancy limits I would just leave him on the reservation. It is easier. If you do want him off the reservation he should still be fine as he will have a MagicBand from your stay. As long as he has available park days on his ticket you should be able to make FP+ selections for all of you.

I know, a lot of questions so thanks so much for any help or input&

Hope that helps. You really do have to get your user accounts under control before you do anything else. It is very complicated when they are already linked to ADRs or hotel reservations. IMO, a call to IT is your best bet.

Good luck! :flower3:

Thanks so much everyone... I know we over complicated all of this...

What I heard is that only one of us should have the children created, so either my mother or I (and possibly my sister) should delete them. Yes?

What I am also hearing is it is ok for people to have their own accounts, but only one of them! As adults I had to send friend requests to my family, and in order to accept them they had to create a MDE account. As long as that is their only account I am good.

I know the rest will fall into line eventually. Thank you for your help!

Well, while we have a conversation here, maybe we can get some related questions answered:

Is there any advantage to multiple members of the same family having their own accounts? Our teenagers/college age kids all have their own iphones and sometimes may be on their own at the parks (while we are at hotel or wherever).

What does the mobil MDE app allow you to do at the park that might be of interest to a teenager? Like say monitor ride times for example. Do you need an account to do access any interesting thing that the mobil site may allow?

How about the spouse? Is it advantageous for both the Mr. and the Mrs. to have their own accounts?

Along the same line, if there is only one account holder that manages everyone's profiles, and that account holder is not at the park on a particular day that everyone else is, does the touring group/half group lose out on any advantages that an app bearing account holder might have?

Excellent questions... I'd like to know as well...

Here is what we learned after doing this wrong for a multifamily trip last February.

You can either:
1. Have one person set up one MDE account and set up profiles for each member of the family. This is good if the other members are not part of the planning and won't be using the MDE account for anything.

or:

2. Have each person set up their own MDE account and send an invitation to the other family members. Mark these people as family and set it to share all information. This would be good if you have teenagers who may want to go off on their own and change their fast pass times. The MDE is cool to use in the parks because it shows you wait times, which was helpful when deciding what to do next. They will also be able to change their fp+ times while they are in the parks.

Husbands and wives - it can be done either way - option 1 or 2. My husband has his own account and we can see each others information - everything except a card number, which I think it is just an individual account number for Disney's purposes. But we can each make reservations and fp+ for our trip from our own accounts. he can use his account to make a dinner reservation for us, and so can I.

But careful how you initially set this up. I had created a profile for our February trip for myself and all the members of our multi-family party. Then my daughter set up her own profile for herself and family. Then when we linked my account with hers, I had two profiles in my MDE, the one I created and the one she created. Things got messy when she used the wrong birthday when she set up her account. I had used her correct birthday, of course, since I'm her mother ;). And for some reason, IT wouldn't correct her birthday. Then ADR;s appeared under the wrong name, and she couldn't see ADR's and it was a mess. So after the trip was over I tried deleting all those family members so I would have a clean MDE account for this December trip. Well, it took months before I could delete those family members because it kept saying that I couldn't delete someone who had an active reservation. That was pretty crazy since the trip had been over for three months. :crazy2: But finally I deleted everyone except my husband and now everything has worked perfectly for our December trip.

I think the advantage to creating a MDE account for each person is that it is really easy to delete them if things get messed up. I could delete the two people who had created their own accounts, but not the ones that I had created until months after the trip was over. Maybe Disney has fixed that problem now.

The advantage to creating one MDE account by one person and having that one person create profiles for all the family members is that it is a lot easier to manage an account that way. I would do it this way for a family with minor children.

If I had it to do over again I would not have created a separate account for my DH. It isn't necessary. And if I ever travel with another family again, like my daughter and her family, I'll just link to her account instead of creating profiles in my account for them. :)

you want to be careful of deleting MDE accounts. I was told more then once by the IT people that if we cancel an account it will cancel the booking. Since the bookings are tied to a room discount that is no longer available we would lose that discount.

So please--proceed with caution with deleting the accounts

I went over to MDE to check and make sure everything was okay, especialy since my MBs are shipping in 2 days, and encountered a cute little video about how MDE works. Such as, how to do Family and Friends, MBs, and link reservations. It's narrated by the costume designer for the Incredibles, Edna, and runs about 1:50. Worth a chuckle! :goodvibes

Loved it!

I think I finally have this dialed in... Granted time will tell as we have a couple months before we can make fp+... All adults ended up getting our own accounts, and I alone manage the children. We are all connected and there are no extra accounts, and everyone can see our DVC reservations.

My goal is to be a MDE and FP+ expert, so as time goes on I hope I can help others...
