My Disney Dollar Quest

Hi All,

I have been cashing out at Mypoints all year for webbies, and using the webbies to get Disney Store gift cards. I then take the cards to the Disney Store and get Disney Dollars.

I know some of you have said that your stores won't do this. Yesterday I hopped the light rail to go home from work, and since it stops at the mall, I got off to do some quick Disney Dollar procuring. I had a 75.00 gc, and the CM said she didn't think I could use it. I asked her to check with the manager since I'd been doing this all year.

Sure enough, she comes back and says "ok, you can have them.
She explained that you can't use a merchandise credit gc to buy them, but you can use a regular GC. I know that when I get the card the explanation sheet that comes with it never says you can't use it for DD, although there are other restrictions.

This is probably one of the busiest stores (Newport Centre, Jersey City by the Holland Tunnel, served by PATH trains, the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, NJ Transit buses and private bus lines) so I'm glad they accept the cards.

I really wish that the policy on this would be clearly stated. I'm truly grateful that this store allows it (according to the CM, if there isn't a stated restriction, there isn't a restriction). I'd like to see this be universal.

On another note - they had great adult pajamas. The CM said that they are going back to carrying more adult clothing in the stores! I'm really happy for that!

Great news! I sure wish the store clossest to us would go back to carrying adult items. My favorite store is an hour away, but it's usually worth the trip!

So you get the webcertificate at mypoints, then where do you exchange that for the Disney giftcard that you are taking to the Disney Store to exchange for Disney Dollars? Sorry if I am missing something!

I use the webcertificate to order the Disney Store GC from the Disney Store online. They ship immediately so I usually get it within 3 days. Then I go to the mall.

Do you have to pay for shipping on the gift card? I hope I am wrong but from the Disney Store web site it looks like you have to pay $6.95 to have a $25 GC sent to yourself. Ouch!!

Thank you rgionet! This will work out great then. I just called my local Disney Store and the CM I spoke with said that she didn't think there would be any problem with using a GC to buy Disney Dollars. Thank you Baileymouse for the great suggestion!!

No problem!! I also do this to get Disney Dollars and the only card you can't use is a merchandise credit in exchange for Disney Dollars. Good luck!!!

For me, it really has been the best way. The only problem is if your web certificate is for an even 25 or 50, you need to have another dollar in there - for some reason the Disney CC verification system puts a 1.00 hold on the mastercard account of the webcertificate, so you actually need 26 to get a 25 certificate. You get the dollar back (the hold comes off) but it's weird.

Are you talking about just the webbie, or getting the card that is like a mastercard, and you must pay for? It would be nice to be able to use just the paper webbie without the added fee for getting a card.

Neither. I get the webbie online, use it to buy a Disney Store Gift Card online, and then take the Disney Store card to the Disney Store and use it there. Then I don't have to worry about taking the webbie.

So far it's worked for me.

ok. I understand. That sounds great. I had read of people getting the card, then carrying it to the store and buying disney dollars. But, like I said, I had read that you had to pay to get the card. I am soooo glad to hear of another way. I have enough points to get some disney dollars now!!!!!!!!!Thanks!

I used my webbie to get Disney dollars last time I cashed out so I'm hoping it will work again. I take the print out to the Staten Island Mall, NY to the Disney Store and ask real nicely (LOL) to atleast try. It worked, it went though and there was no problem, I'm hoping I will be able to do it again. They asked for my driver's license and was fine with it.

Hey Baileymouse, I take the train in to NY all the time to shop. I take it you work in manhattan, I'm sure you been to the disney store in NY. That store is amazing. They have anything and everything. I'll be there today, can't wait.

Mish19, I used to live in Bklyn, then moved to Staten Island(now we live in NJ)I LOVE the staten Island mall.

I'm actually in Hoboken - not Manhattan, and I take the light rail to and from work to avoid Hoboken parking. I can hop off the light rail at the mall and hop back on again without paying another fare as long as it's within the hour and a half on the ticket.

I've been to the one in NYC - great store!
