OHANA

We tried Ohana for dinner on our recent trip in Sept. It was our first time dining there and I was a little nervous about finding food I would like since I am a bit of a picky eater. OMG, i loveeeeed this place. I can't wait to go back to Disney next December just go to there again,

We were seated fairly close to the fire pit near the window, so we had a perfect view of the lagoon, Cindy Castle and the Grand Floridian (or Red Roof Inn) as we heard it called several times.

The bread they start you out with is very good and the veggies they give you are good too. For me though, the highlight of the entire meal was the noodles they give you and the honey coriander chicken wings. My gosh, I think I must have eaten my weight in these. They were just beyond good. Since we got home, I found the recipe and have made them 3 or 4 times myself and they taste almost as good as what I got there.

Then the bread pudding was fabulous too. I've had bread pudding at other locations at Disney and have never been terribly impressed, but this was just sooo good, I hated that I had stuffed myself with chicken wings and barely had room for all that they gave you.

All in all, I'd rate this Disney restaurant a 10 and I'll definitely go back next year.

Whispering Canyon Cafe

This one was a first for us too. We enjoyed it, but to me, the food was only so so...the "other" stuff that happens is definitely what makes this dining experience.

We had Gino as our server. He was hilarious. He poked fun at me all night and flirted with my sister the whole time. When he brought us our napkins & straws, instead of placing them on the table, he just tossed them at us and of course we got 3 times more than we needed, although half of them landed on the floor or our heads.

When my husband asked for Ketchup, he looked at him like he was crazy and then of course, yelled for everyone to bring us ketchup.

We got complimentary champagne since we were celebrating our anniversary & my DH got a cupcake since he was celebrating a birthday.

Like I said, the food itself was pretty good, but dessert was very dissapointing. I got apple pie I think and when I think of apple pie, I think of it being warm with ice cream. This was stone cold and just hard and very untasty and unappealing.

Other than that, we enjoyed ourselves and loved being able to look out over the beautiful lobby of the Wilderness Lodge.

More reviews to come...

Thanks for a great first review. My family loves the wings at 'Ohana too. I've never been tempted to try the WCC, and now I'm even less so; thanks for your honesty. Looking forward to reading more, although I'm betting this will get moved to the top of the page under Disney Dining Reviews.

Mama Melroses

We have eaten here before, but enjoyed it again this trip. We had an ADR so we got in very quickly and this restaurant is nice & quite which is good after the hustle & bustle of a busy day in the park. My sister & I had the 4 cheese flatbread which was good, but not wonderful. My DH had the salmon which he said was very good.
For dessert, my DH got the gelato which he wasn't real impressed with. I got a lemon meringue tart that was very light and yummy. a
Our waiter was very nice and when my DH ordered a specialty coffee, he gave it too him for free in celebration of his birthday.

Planet Hollwood

On our first day, we stopped here since we had vouchers that came with our package. We got the chips & spinach dip. It was pretty good. We also shared a Banana's Foster Cheesecake which was very good.
We had great service an the atmosphere was cool, albeight very crowded & loud.

Crystal Palace, Cape May Cafe, Chef Mickey's, Donald's Safari Breakfast, 1900 Park Fare
All of these were character meals that we had breakfast's at. If you enjoy getting pictures with the characters, but don't want to wait in line, these are great since all the characters for that meal come by your table for pictures.
The food...only so so for me. There were definitely some things I enjoyed since it was a buffet and lots to choose from, but none of it was something I'd write home about. At 1900 Park Fare, Chef Mickey's & Donald's Safari Breakfast, they take pics of your party in hopes that you will buy the outrageously expensive prints. I never found them pushy about it at all and it was easy to say no when we didn't want them.
Out of all the character buffet's we ate at, I think Donald's Safari Breakfast was my favorite. The "jungle juice" was sooo good and I wanted to fill up my Camelbak with it to drink througout the day.

Grand Floridian Afternoon Tea
We did this twice during our trip. It is just so nice & relaxing after a long, hot day in the parks. The food is great and can definitely fill you up. I got Nobo Whole Fruit tea which is just delicious. I also had the British Cheese & Fruit played which I truly enjoyed. My favorite thing was the Strawberries & Devenshire cream...yum!
