I am still unpacking from our trip but wanted to share the places we ate.
Day 1: Arrived at the Magic Kingdom around 1:30 pm after checking in at POR. We decided to grab a snack as we only had a donut at the airport around 6 am. We had watched a show on the Food Network about food at Disney and decided to seek out one of the famous turkey legs. We found the cart selling them near the Country Bear Jamboree and after seeing the size bought one to share along with 2 cokes. I have to say we were very disappointed with the turkey leg and would never get another one. I am not sure that is really turkey! It tasted more like ham and neither one of us like ham at all. For those who like them though it was served very hot and the meat was tender, we just did not like the taste at all. Total for snack= $10
For dinner we had a PS at 7:10 for Ohana in the Poly. We arrived right around 7 pm and were seated within 15 min. The place was very busy. I don't recall seeing many empty tables at all. We were seated near a window overlooking the walkway to the beach--it was beautiful with the tiki torches lighting the pathway. Our server for the evening was Heather and she was hands down the best server of our entire trip! We never had to ask for a refill or for more food she was always a step ahead of us. Ohana has a fixed menu so Heather brought us the starters--a huge tray of appetizers and sides placed in the middle of the table on a lazy susan. We loved the wontons and chicken wings and the salad with the delicious honey-lime dressing was fresh and crisp. The green beans were cooked perfectly not mushy and limp! Our main course were the skewers of turkey, pork, shrimp, and steak. I liked the steak the best. My bf liked the turkey the best and commented that this was how turkey was supposed to taste (unlike the leg above). I thought the shrimp was very good as well but found the pork to be a little to spicy for me--although putting it in the fruit dipping sauce did help! Our favorite sauce was the peanut dipping sauce--I think we may have gone through three dishes of that one alone. For dessert we had fresh pineapple slices with a caramel dipping sauce. My bf didn't think he would like it yet there were none left by the time we were done! During the course of the dinner there were a couple of coconut races and hula hoop contests for the children but the MC of the entertainment did a good job at keeping the kids under control and from our table we wouldn't have even known they were happening if he hadn't been miked. Overall this was our favorite and we can't wait to go back again. Total with tax and tip = 61.32
After dinner we walked downstairs and strolled along the pathway to the beach. We found a couple of empty lounge chairs on the beach and sat down to watch the fire works. What a great place to watch them!! Then after the fire works were done we were able to see the lagoon parade---the end to a perfect first day!!
