My Dining Plan So Far

I just made my package ressies this morning, woohoo! Here's the plan so far. We are a family of 4 (dh and I and boys ages 12 and 4). Does anyone have any ideas on counter meals or a place to dine in the Magic Kingom?

18 Sep: Arrive at WDW (we're driving and should get there around noon or so). Spend afternoon/evening at MGM; ts dinner at Mama Melrose's (part of the Fantasmic package) or Prime Time or Sci Fi (we still want to see Fantasmic, regardless).

19 Sep: Animal Kingdom. Have the Breakfastosaurus (I'm shooting for a 10:30 or around there ADR). Not sure about cs dinner.

20 Sep: Magic Kingdom. We'll be there all day. I have no idea where to eat for ts or cs.

21 Sep. Epcot. Coral Reef ts dinner. Not sure about cs lunch.

22 Sep. Depart for home. Maybe cs for breakfast, since we won't be having one on our arrival day?

I plan to call for my ADRs tomorrow (I have to leave for my classes pretty soon and won't be home until after 10 tonight). I'd like to have my ducks all lined up before I call.

Thanks for any and all suggestions/advice!

Cosmic Rays is good. A good variety and a lot of food. You could also try some of the TS places at a resort close to MK, like Ohanas, Kona Cafe, Chef Mickey's, Grand Floridian, etc.

AK-We thought Tusker House was great. Our favorite CS meal. Or you could take a bus to Boma for a TS.

Epcot-I hear good things about Sunshine Season, but haven't tried it yet. There are a lot of CS options here so check out menus to see what appeals to your family.

You could also consider getting sandwiches at Earl of Sandwich and taking them on the road with you when you leave.

We loved the Crystal Palace at MK for TS. We have done breakfast there, it was the best we had! This next time we are trying dinner! Its character dining with Pooh & Friends.

Also, Chef Mickey is at the Contemporary, which is very close to the MK, another great option for TS dinining that day... also character meals with Mickey & friends.... a must do for us, although I prefer the food at the Crystal Palace.

Im of no help for CS though, we have 2 young kids and always find it easier to go back to our resort and use the CS there right before naps. So, someday when they are older, I will get to try a lot more of them!

For your TS places in general and the Fantasmic Dining Pkg and Coral Reef especially, just know when you call that you might need to be flexible with your times if you really want these places, and it might be a good idea to have a second choice TS in mind in case the place is completely booked or the available times just won't work for you. I made our ADRs for Sept. 22-29 about a month ago, only about a week or two after the 180-day mark, and still had to accept some early or late dinner times (like 5:00 or 8:30).

With that said, I really like your plan! You've obviously looked at the opening/closing times and EMH's and picked the best park for each day. For your MGM day, definitely try and get a Fantasmic Dining Pkg slot (try H&V if MM doesn't work out) since your time at the park is limited and it would be a shame to spend 60-90 minutes of that time just waiting for Fantasmic. If you cannot get a FDP slot then I'd suggest eating a CS dinner and use your extra TS for lunch on your Epcot day. For your AK day, we personally aren't big fans of eating breakfast in the parks when we could be touring, but that is an EMH day for AK so you do have more time than you otherwise might. I second the Tusker House recommendation and Flame Tree BBQ is also good CS food (& large portions too). For your MK day, we do like to go to one of the nearby resorts for a TS (Concourse Steakhouse, Kona Cafe, 'Ohana) but we're usually also not trying to see MK in one day like you will be. Liberty Tree Tavern (character meal) gets probably the best reviews of any TS in the park. For your departure day CS, if you want to use it for breakfast, Pepper Market at CSR probably has the best selection and offers the most value for your credit, or you could go to Mara at AKL and not only have breakfast but look around AKL and take time to view the animals on the savanna too before getting on the road. Have fun!
