Beth - The shop you're referring to that sold the western stuff is indeed closed. I called merchandising to order something and they told me it had been sold in that store and it was now closed. I'm not sure of the name of it or when it was closed.

I do miss the way shopping around the world used to be! Back when DWD was the Marketplace and each shop was truly unique...used to save up my allowance to shop in the Readin'&Ritin' shop!

Now the only place it seems to find really unique non-disney items is in World Showcase, and even then, I noticed more disney themed stuff last time we were there...

Would love to take a time machine back about 20 years and go to WDW and SHOP! LOL

I agree about the specialty shops. It was one of the great things about Disney.
In my oppinion Disney has completely blown it when it comes to their shops and merchandise.
Look at the sucess of the Pirates movie, there is NO, ZILCH, NADDA merchandise from the movie for sale in the park.
They made the movie to merchandise the park ride and they have NOTHING from the movie for sale. there is a BIG market for this stuff and nothing to buy.
As for the other special shops, Magic, the hat shop, that made real hats, the Pirate shop and many others those were special reasons to go to Disney. Now it is like going to the mall, any mall they are all the same anyway. Nothing special nothing unique.
I think the current Disney executives come from Walmart of something.
