My dd's best friend's parents are mad at my dd...

Do they go to a private school? All the high schools here in
Columbus have vending machines with iced tea/pepsi/dr pepper,
mountain dew and the kids can buy them anytime.

These parents could have been misquoted. After all, it came
from their daughter to your daughter to you. Not worth clarifying
or worrying about though is it?

:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: javajavajavajavajavajavajavajavajavajava!!!!!!

Good grief, I've been drinking hot tea in the morning since I was 6 and I'm just fine... I think...:hyper: :hyper:

My 11yo has been drinking coffee drinks for several years, mostly mocha frapacinnos.

Now I wonder, do these same parents "freak out" about their child drinking cola? tea? or other caffienated beverages?

My ex has a problem with my DD drinking coffee drink but he is the one who buys them Mountain Dew and Pepsi. Whats the difference?

In DS's high school they've been making coffee/hot chocolate in the morning classes since Freshman year, he's going to be a senior this year.
They bring in breakfast foods too.
DS doesn't drink coffee but out of 15 kids, 2 of them don't.
I don't see the big deal. If she likes the flavor she can drink decaf.

I truely can stand parents like this! Can't they see that they will cause thier DD to start keeping secrets? It was just coffee.......will they ever let her do anything without freaking out?

Since you are getting the info second hand, maybe something got lost in the translation. Maybe there is more to the story than you know.

The whole thing just doesn't sound right to me. There is something else going on here besides coffee. Somebody needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Either her parents didn't get the right or whole story or you didn't. Until you hear what was said from her parents, you'll never know what exactly was said.

Way over reacting! Plus at 15 they were they are worried about a sleepover disrupting her sleeping pattern???? That's what sleepovers are for!

I know a family like that. The parents demand when she goes to a sleepover (she's 12) that she be in bed at 10:30PM no matter what the other girls are doing.
Poor girl has anxiety over it...
Wierdos...

So yes I believe the story. Just lay low. If I had parents like that I would learn to keep my trap shut.

At 15 I was working two jobs, going to school full time and playing varsity sports.

This girl has three years before college to learn to "regulate" her own "sleep patterns" and get better at time management.

If at 15 these parents cant trust their children to make decisions for themselves, what in the world are they going to do in three years when alone at college? They have one year to trust her to make wise decisions before she gets behind the wheel of a car. If they flip like this over coffee, what are they going to do to this poor girl over REAL eventful decisions in her life? They need counseling...or a padded cell.

My DH at 15 had dropped out of school to work full time and help his mother raise 7 brothers and sisters. I doubt very much if caffine overdoses were on his mind at that age. But having coffee to be able to put on the table was.

Honestly, I think people today baby their kids to the point that they are so much more immature then what we were as kids.

the difference is ,, coffee has twice as much caffeine....

Mocha frappaccinos or however you spell them, barely have an actual coffee in them..it's mostly sugar. Honestly though, those mocha blended drinks are really bad for you, tons of calories, fat, sugar. Worse than soda but soda isn't that great for anyone either. AHH I sound like I'm lecturing, I'm so sorry. If your husband really doesn't want her drinking those coffee drinks then he should do his part and not buy caffeinated sodas that are full of sugar.

They actually are not high in fat if you get them WITHOUT the whipped cream (which we do). They have more protein in them they do fat 4g of fat vs 6g of protein.
