My Day to Vent~appt, lost stuff and a FIRE, Oh My!

If you choose to read this, be warned I am cranky

It started with my 8am doctor visit that took me 4 mos to get. Last night I worked till after midnight and got up at 6 to get the exercise in, do the basics and get there on time. (and yes, thankful for the work in this economy!!)

I show up, fill out the stack of paperwork and wait.............not bad within 15 or so minutes they call me in.
And as we are walking to the exam room I am then told that my insurance carrier will not pay for the exam as I am too early (once a year Gyn)..... Huh, didn't they know this when I originally spoke to them? Why tell me now, and Why should they ask me to pay out of pocket $$$ for an appt that is normally covered. And if you know me, I am a cancer survivor and make no jokes about any of my exams and tests...so she wants me to sign a waiver to go thru the exam and pay them???
I said that this is all for 2 days early? Why was this scheduled like this? Okay, I get it, but she then RIPS up ALL my paperwork and says she will schedule when avail. Hello....it was mos. last time...and with my medical history, and recent issues, this is no joke, seriously. And all those pages of medical updates and records I just filled out?? I think she looked at my face and of course she got someone else to "help" me get an appt...so its within the week. YES, at least thats soon.

So, I come home, still unpacking from our AMAZING disney trip (way too much going on here) and decide to get all the paperwork together for the rec vehicle we want to sell (that in itself is a joke in this economy) But hey, I just want it out of here!
Guess what, the entire folder and ALL the originals are Missing No title, no reg and no reg for trailer. So I search to no avail and decide to call DMV first....after hold of 15 minutes and on the phone for 34 minutes,,,,looks like I will not be selling it anytime soon as duplicate title takes 2-4 weeks?? I know those darn papers are somewhere obviously, but where oh where are they?? Okay...two down.....

Wait it gets better.........
As I am walking out the door to see my newest niece, the phone rings....I almost did not pick it up...its my neighbor...telling me there appears to be smoke coming from my yard He says he'll meet me in the yard. I hang up, scream to the ds to get him and our pup out of the house and look in yard to see HUGE black billowing smoke coming from the rear yard, alas the Entire Hayward Pool Filter is literally up in flames as is the nearby shrubbery as the pool is emptying out all over as well...we're talking 18 by 33 here Flames are like 3-5' high and the smell is Awful, toxic??? A huge drum of chlorine is in flames. I run and shut off breaker and am flipping out and call 911. Then I wait......
2 minutes, 3 minutes, 4 minutes, 5 MINUTES?? Where the heck is the fire dept??? The shrubs are in a long row and end in a lovely large tree that hangs over my house (thats another story WHY it was not trimmed back this year) and the neighbors house has trees right along side mine on this side OMG, now I am getting nervous....even he says where the heck are they, they are very close by.....No sound of sirens, nothing. People walking by the area are all gaping and I am showing them the phone because they must thing, WTH!
I call 911 back and am told they will arrive shortly. They don't but within another 4 minutes a lone police car does. What a nice guy, takes fire extinguishers with him and goes into yard. He is able to get it down and then FD shows up...they then do test of area for toxins, YES, they are there....they foam it, spray down area and I mention the chlorine, they THEN start moving that around and guess what, it goes BACK up popping they ultimately get it under control and left, telling me the pool filter likely overheated Not sure why or how but when I tell you it is not even there any more, I mean it melted completely, gone Kaput, like it never existed......SCARY~!

My neighbor saw and did something (I'll be dropping something there tonight!)
And that its just a pool filter and not my house...or other belongings....boy, I feel so lucky....2 years ago, my other neighbors house literally burned to the ground with an oil tank fire (?) talk about an awful situation (fortunately I saw it, called and though unable to save the home, no one was home or hurt!

Well, guess I will be doing another round of checking everything around here and re-checking....that was scary...and my head is aching and my throat is sore .... think I'll be resting and watching tv the rest of the day....I am shot!

Wow, bad day for you. First off, glad that the fire was contained and it didn't damage your house and no one was hurt.

Secondly, be glad the doctors office set something before the appointment. Yes, that scheduling mix-up should not have happened, but your would be surprised how often it does. Then nothing is said to the patient and the next thing they know they are getting bills from the lab and the doctor because the insurance wouldn't cover it. Talk about a mess.

I had to deal with the DMV also in regards to getting a duplicate title. My problem was, I had an insurance company breathing down my neck for it so that they could total my car out and give my money. Oh, fun times. Pain in the behind!
