Last week DD auditioned for her first play and got a part! 180 kids from all over our county and surrounding counties auditioned, and 50 got selected. She had a small speaking part (just a handful of lines), and was a part of the villagers (singing and dancing). They had three performances this weekend and it was so wonderful. It was run by the Missoula Children's Theater, which is a traveling children's theater program that runs all over the country. They are booked by a local school, arrive on a Sunday, hold auditions on Monday, rehearse 5 hours each night Tues.- Thursday, and have performances on Friday and Saturday. WHEW!
It was run very professionally.:thumbsup2
DD is hooked, she can't wait until they come back next year.
I highly recommend the program if they come to your town.:goodvibes

Do tell...what play was it?

I've been to a couple of these kinds of performances, as one of my DD's friend would try out from time to time. The one I remember the best was the Wizard Of Oz. It was very fun, and the kids all had a great time.

Hope she is able to catch up on her sleep and homework tomorrow!

They did Rumpelstiltskin. It was a different from the original, but it was hilarious. I'm just amazed they put it together in a week.

She has so much homework tomorrow. :lmao: She didn't realize that she would have to make up all the work she missed on Friday. They were excused from school for the day performances put on for the local elementary school field trips. That's OK, a little work won't hurt her.;)

Theater is a great learning experience for kids! Congratulations to your daughter!!!

Homework or not...she will have great memories of this play!

Our kids' old school does Missoula every year. It is a BLAST for the kids. I LOVE their productions. They are always hilarious. The kids do a great job for only having a week to put the production together.

Our Elementary school has a great drama program. Dd has been in a musical the last two years and we should find out what the play will be this year sometime this week. The first year she was in Honk Jr, and last year she was selected for the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland. SHe also does a summer drama camp and has been in 101 Dalmations, and Willy Wonka. We think the musiacl this year will be Beauty and The Beast!!

She LOVES being in Drama and it has helped her so much!!

sounds pretty cool. DW is in our community theater. It is a great group of people.

Aww, that sounds like fun. My high school always put on 2 huge musicals a year, and I was in the orchestra (not talented enough for the big stage) but it was so much fun.

I do remember my first play very fondly... I was a tree. Yes, I was a tree when I was 8 years old.
