My daughter, the pack rat

My lovely 13yo daughter, my beautiful, funny, talented teenage daughter is the biggest pack rat in the world. Her room is a disaster zone. Every now and then I get sick of it and box it all up, but she finds more. Her floor is knee deep in clothes. Get rid of them you say? Blasphemy! She cannot get rid of anything she ever wore, even if you tell her there are nekkid children in Africa.

So two days ago I told her to find her concert dress uniform; she has a concert this weekend and will be staying with one of the singers and we(her parents) will be out of town(don't panic--she has concerts about twice a month and I go to almost all of them). last night, I reminded her to pack her bag adn put her concert stuff in it. She told me she found her uniform hanging in the back of her closet. That's funny, she nevers hangs anything...Oh well

Today, while she is in school I go check her bag to make sure she has everything before I leave. I look--no uniform. Hmmm, let's look in the closet--no uniform. Now I'm starting to worry. Look down in the laundry room--no uniform. Where is that darn thing Ah ha! There it is, stuffed behind the bed, inside the suitcase she used on her LAST TOUR which was in early March.There's that pesky uniform..and all her dirty laundry...and a formerly wet bathing suit. P.U.

I"m supposed to leave in one hour I'm doing the laundry. (I'd make her do it but god knows where the uniform would go next ) My fault for not looking yesterday. I can't believe she lied about it though. Oh, but there will be concequences

Ahh....I feel your pain. I have a beautiful, talented daughter, as well. Who is the biggest slob ever!

However, I do have hope. You won't be able to walk through her room but when you look at her cd's and movies--they are all in alpha order. Her pencils and pens are neatly separated in different containers. I'm slowly gaining on her--she's being organized in small ways and I know that when she gets older, she'll be fine.

Now, I do remember my dad saying, "I'm always amazed when this beautiful girl, dressed perfectly, not a hair out of place, steps out of that pig sty." And, yeah, he was talking about me!

NMAmy-- I was just like this. My room was always a mess, but I looked FABulous.

Your daughter gives me hope. DD13 is very organized with her videos, books,& school stuff. She knows where each of her kazillion earrings is Maybe with time...
