My Crazy Idea: Too Crazy??

I'd go all the time, if money were no object! lol

Being a $500 plane ride away, I see it differently than the OP. But somebody up thread mentioned return flights for around $100. I could spend that much in a day doing far less fun things locally, and if the OP has an AP, why the heck not!!

(PS: We happened to be in Anaheim for something else a few months ago and paid $150/each for single-day hoppers. At that price we DID NOT feel like we got good value. The AP part makes all the difference in the world.)

I personally would go the weekend before or the weekend after just to avoid the race/holiday crowds. I would fly down on a saturday morning, and back on sunday night just to maximize my weekend.

Oh yes. I live pretty close to SF and you can get down there and back for $150 or so. Plus, it only takes about an hour to an hour and a half to fly there.

I am DYING to go to DLR. I have a trip planned late October, but don't want to wait.

Since I live in SF, I'm seriously thinking of flying down one morning, and flying back that night!

What do you guys think? Have I lost my mind??

If flights were that cheap I would so do it! Sometimes that Disney pull is just too much to resist.

Something to think about is with the federally mandated runway repairs closing down two of the four runways in San Francisco you will probably see delays. I would pick a flight and monitor it for a few days to see if they are experiencing delays...if so you could lose precious park time.

I am flying into SFO from San Luis Obispo in Sept and have been keeping track of our flights, and right now it looks like any flight coming in from SFO has delays anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 hours.

FWIW, there's a local charity here that charters a commercial airliner each year and takes a plane-load of disadvantaged kids down to DL for "One Magical Day". They leave at 6:00 am and return at 9:00 pm (it's a 3.5 hour direct flight with an hour difference for the time zone). It's the thrill of a lifetime for them and obviously very doable if you're motivated.

If money were not an issues I'd absolutely do this but I'd do it next weekend!

But if it were at all possible I'd stay one night because I wouldn't want to leave. Why not? In fact I'd fly down Friday after work and fly home Sunday evening.

And yes, sorry to not be more clear sooner, but flying down to LA from SF is way different than if I was anywhere else. Flights are cheap, short and reliable; as I said, many people commute down there. No joke. There are also a lot of flights. Worst case scenario on the way out is I'd reschedule for another day if the delay were too long; on the way home, worst case would be I'd need to get a hotel in Anaheim that night and fly out on one of the many flights back the next morning. Either way, it's really no big.

But I think you've all talked me out of going down on Labor Day... Sounds like a Saturday is more reasonable? Will blackouts be an issue?

One important thing to remember is that it doesn't matter if it's a Blockout Day. You can activate your annual pass on a Blockout Day regardless.

And I say, Go for it!! Though I think I'd suggest going for a full weekend rather than just one day.
