My character stays in the game after I exit!

I've noticed something strange: when I leave VMK by clicking the 'Exit' button in the lower right, and say OK to the 'are you sure you want to exit' dialog... it logs me out of VMK, but my character stays right where he is and still shows up as being online!

I know this 'cos when friends log on, they see me as connected, they can enter the same room, they see me as just standing there like a zombie!

Does this happen to anybody else? It's annoying because people think I'm idling when I'm actually long gone!

It just takes a while for VMK to realize that you are actually offline...
Sometimes, on really busy days, your character just hangs there until you log in again!

Most likely this is a bug that staff needs to fix.

As a workaround, try going to your own room every time you log off. That way nobody will see you.

same happens to me-if you x out too it also happens...

I notice it (of course) when I have two characters going and kill one.

Same problem here. It was bad enough that I put it into the description of my afk room, that I "log out" from. Something along the lines of "I have a bug that leaves me here as a statue. If I am facing a wall and don't respond, I am probably not here."

BTW, are you using a Mac? I was trying to figure out how consistent it was, and it seems to happen more with Macs.

Also, sometimes, if instead of exiting the program, you completely quit the browser (the sledge hammer method of exiting), your character will disappear.

Yes - I'm on a Mac running Safari. Interesting! Thanks for catching that common thread!

I'm on a Mac running Safari and IE. The only time I 'lag behind' after I have logged out is if I just close the window. (and don't log out) *I can tell because a lot of the time I have 2 players on at once.
Oh, and by the way: I have a small baby, so if I'm looking like a zombie (not talking) it's probably because I had to leave the computer quickly!

I have the problem too, on Firefox on WinXP. Anyways...my more annoying problem is when one of the accounts exit. The text gets all funny in VMK in the account I stay on. It becomes Arial Narrow in approximately size 14...it makes everything hard to type because it changes size when something blinks in red and everything. Also all the other text that people say are all spaced out funny like this: "H ell o! H i F l y!" I've found it only gets fixed
when I restart my VMK game. Does anyone else have this problem, and has anyone fixed it with out reloading VMK?

I have an idea for how to avoid being left behind as a statue where people can see you, and might think you are being rude and ignoring them

Tell me if you think this would work, as a way to exit:
- choose the very most popular room and try to enter it
- when it says you are in the queue, click cancel; you should end up in VMK map screen
- then quit the browser from there.

Should this leave it so that my character is in the limbo of "Not in any room"? It'll still look like I'm logged in (in "Not in any room"), but at least I won't be a in a room getting yelled at for ignoring people?

Will this work?

I'm so glad this happens to someone else!! It only happens with my IE and I thought something was wrong with it!
i've never tried to fix it though, sorry

I have exactly the same problem...sometimes it even happens when both are still in the game one will have this crazy text.

Yeah, I get the weird text thing too. Often happens if I have several screens up at the same time I'm playing VMK.
