Our cat (Sully) has been missing since Tuesday evening. He likes to come in and out all day long. However, when we let him out Tuesday around 7pm he hasn't been back since. He never really seems to wander too far. However, it's been storming like crazy and I'm worried sick.

He has a collar on. As well as been "marked" w/ identify numbers (we got him from the Humane society and he's tattooed w/ numbers that link him to us in their system as well as the SPCA we were told).

I'm assuming someone took him in. I don't know why though-- he doesn't look like a stray, he's wearing a collar. I've asked around but nobody knows anything. I have an add starting to run in the paper tomorrow-- but I think it's a long shot.

Ugh-- I'm just so upset about this. DS (11) is blaming himself because he let him out that time. Even though I told him he comes in and out all the time.

 for you and your son....hope the kitty comes home!!

Sometimes when my cat gets stuck outside in a storm, she won't come back until she thinks it's absolutely safe. She'll stay under a porch or under a big bush where she's safe until she sees the outside world is all OK again.

Maybe your cat tried to come back during the day and no one was home? If that's the case he might go back to his hiding place for another day. I would leave some food outside just in case.

Good luck... I feel for you... my cat's gone for 2 days before and I was so worried.

My friends' cat was missing for a couple of days and turned out he was stuck way up in a tree. We have also found lost kitties up in our tree. Seems to me it was storming at the time. My advice--look up!

Is he allowed out of an enclosure, like a fenced-in yard or cat-run, to wander freely?? Sure hope he is found.

He kind of has the run of the neighboorhood (up until now w/o a problem). I did have another cat many, many years ago that would go missing for days all the time. Once it was even 3 weeks and he showed back up in the middle of the night. However, this one doesn't do that.

Thanks for the quick repsonse's!!!!!!

I hope your kitty shows up soon!!! I would be just as upset as you if my kitty was missing.

Pray to Saint Anthony, the patron saint of lost causes and lost things.
When I was a litlle girl my Catholic Grandmother would say this little rhyming "prayer" "Saint Anthony, Saint Anthony, Please come round, something's (insert Kitties name here) lost and must be found."
Good Luck.
our cat Max ran away last May. We searched for 8 weeks. I would drive around all day while the kids were in school.
On the 14th week a friend called me to tell me that she saw an found ad in a local newspaper.
Called the lady, went ot see the cat.
5.8 miles from where we live.
She said that she had had him for a couple of months.
She had 8 cats. All looked healthy and happy.
She had taken this "new" cat to a vet and she showed me the receipt for vacinations etc.
I was sure it was him. Although he acted like he neither knew me or liked me. At All.
She let me take him home in her cat carrier.
We kept him less than 24 hours. He wanted to rip us to shreds. Like a maniac cat he wanted OUT. He even tried to attack the DOG his best buddy in the whole world!
Apparently, he had chosen his "person" and it was not me.
I called her and told her how wickedly he was behaving and she agreed to take him back. She was a really nice lady but still, I felt like I was giving a child away. I reimbursed her for the vet visit. I cried all the way home but that night was the first good nights sleep I had had in more than 3 months.
Because I knew he was safe, happy, healthy.

Not dead.

Not injured. Not eaten up by vicious wild animals.
Not decomposing in the woods somewhere. Not caught in a trap. Not an alligator snack.
I drive by her house about once a month now and almost every time he is either stalking around her front yard like a big tiger or lounging on her porch swing.
I know he recognizes the sound of my car. He will lift up his head and look at me but never comes near me.
I am happy just to see him, though.

PS. went to the animal shelter and got myself a kitten. I told my kids it was for them but you know it was really for me!
His name is Brooks, named after my son's fantastic principal.
THIS cat is STRICTLY an indoor cat!
He makes no attempts to get out. HE loves us. He loves ME.
I still miss Max but I am glad that he is happy.

Could he have accidentally gotten locked in your cellar or garage? My cat is notorious for that.. He's also been known to wander off a time or two and not come home overnight..

I also agree that maybe the storms has scared your kitty and he's hiding somewhere - OR - some kid has found him and since Tuesday night has been pleading, "Oh PLEASE Mom, can't I keep him? Pretty, pretty please??????"

Hope he turns up soon!

One of my parents' cats disappeared when I was in 5th grade. We had 4, but we were still upset. I had them put a lost and found announcement on the PA at my elementary school and lo and behold, a neighbor one block away brought him over (for a reward of course). His paws were all sore like he was locked up and trying to get out.
I'm super paranoid about just this type of thing and keep my cats in 99% of the time. My oldest cat got out by mistake last fall at age 16 and the next morning I knew she was out because she didn't wake me at 6--called out back and she RAN in from under the deck, "yelling" at me the entire time!
I hope your kitty comes back soon! Please keep us posted!

hope she's home soon!!!!!

I remember once when my cat (who never went far either) was missing for over a month. I was pretty positive we'd never see her again when a friend of mine said she saw her at someone's house. What happened was she left our neighborhood (don't know why) and an elderly lady found her. She didn't let her go outside so she never had a chance to come home. LOL - she was pretty spoiled after that - the woman feed her tuna fish everyday.:wave2:

Just wondering if the :sunny: came out and if Kitty came home.

Did you check with the police and the local shelter? I hope you find him!! I'd be a WRECK!

My cat is home!!! :D Thank you for all the well wishes!!! Today is the first day of the ad in the newspaper. We were gone all evening but someone called from a few streets over saying they thought our cat was living under their porch. It was too late to call (just a few minutes ago). So we took a ride by. We figured if it looked like people were awake we'd knock. However the house was pitch black. We could see our cat laying on the front porch. My son called out the car window and the cat came running. So, we have him back--- we're gonna call the people in the morning to thank them for calling and to let them know we have him now. He's collar and "ID tag" are off, so I don't know what's up w/ that. He was starving and he's lost a little weight, but he's home. He's now officially a 100% indoor cat. Thanks again!!
