My kitten Chewie has taken to beg for apple pieces. Is it safe to give him some?

I know that dogs can eat apple pieces safely but onions are toxic. I don't know about cats.

I don't know about apples, but one of our cats LOVES olives. He'll tear apart grocery bags to get to them. We have a fill your own type olive bar at our grocery store and apparently he can smell them through the carton. He even pulled the container out of the fridge once, spilled it all over the kitchen floor, then ran off with an olive - all before we knew what happened.

Cats are so weird.

if you give your cat some, watch to see is she eats it ......my sister's cat used to HIDE food and then my sis would find it later.......the cat never ate the people food it begged for......just took and hid it.

I would just be careful to make sure they didn't get the seeds though. I read somewhere that the seeds of apples can be poisonous. I always made sure that when my kids were little they didn't get the whole apple, I cut it up to make sure they didn't accidently eat the seeds.

I just checked it out on Snopes..here is the link

seems they contain cynide, but you would have to consume HUGE amounts

Our cat loves olives as well, and so did my parent's cat. I guess they like the salt in them? Of course our old cat also liked to lick the cream inside the Oreo :confused3 .

Ok, I am glad I am not going to poison him.

As for the comment on tat being better than some pet foods lately, sure is. We had some of that nasty stuff but a different batch. It all went into the garbage. I am not taking any chances.

The way I look at it is if we can eat it and not get sick then an animal should be ok too. (but in smaller amounts)

My cats won't touch any "human" food. Not even tuna, unless it's mixed with mayo...then the younger will eat it, but the older one turns her nose up at it.

Our cat loved Dorito's..... and liver sausage. :confused3

Euri eats popcorns...actually tries to take it out of the bowl, as well as turkey pot pies, but not beef.

My cat Molly goes nuts for muffins! I work in a bakery and made the muffins for years, recently within the last year or so I have not been doing that job and if I bring some home she flips out tryng to find them! I think she associates the smell with me!

one of my cats likes green beans, vegetable soup, and potato soup. Oh, and turkey bacon, although that one makes more sense at least!

Our torti, Nala, loves meat (bacon, turkey, etc) and fruit. We have to be careful not to leave a melon laying around unattended because you'll find little teeth marks in them! :rotfl2:
