I am sitting here trying to type with my cat, Kipper, sitting on my lap, rubbing his head against my chin. He acts just like my 5 year old...okay, maybe my DD doesn't rub her head on my chin, but they do alot of other stuff alike...
Examples:
Kipper stands outside the bathroom door and puts his paw under the door and meows LOUDLY. Remy does the same except she speaks English.
Kipper follows me around the house, Remy does the same. When I stop the cat lifts his paws up to be picked up and...Remy does the same.
I try to eat something, and they BOTH beg for it.
I watch a movie and they both have to sit in the same chair I do (this chair was only made for one person: ME).
Also if I set down my glass of tea and happen to stupidly leave it unattended they both drink out of it (I know Remy backwashes, but am not taking any chances that Kipper does too).
It's like I have another kid around the house!

Cats are people too! :)

I admit I spoil my cat. He has tons of toys and even some little outfits (he has to have sweaters because it gets way below zero here). I also have been known to dress him up at Halloween. Maybe this makes me weird, but that's ok.

My cat thinks she is DH's mistress. He name is Delilah and it is fitting. She'll sit in his lap and rub his face until he holds her on her back in his arms - like a baby. Then she will reach up with her paw to his cheek and pull his head down until she can lick it. Unbelievable!

Our cat is the same way but he thinks Pete is HIS pet. He grooms Pete at night and sleeps curled around his head. He walks from room to room and cries for Pete when he is away visiting his dad. They chase each other around the house and pop out and try to scare each other all the time. It's like having TWO little boys around the house.

I can soooo relate. My cats are angels from heaven, except Meeko who is the demonchild from the OTHER place... :p

Denae, my Max does the same exact thing to me! It is so special. It's almost as if he just wants to thank me for everything.

I've just decided that God gave most of his creatures the same ability to love and react, it's not just a "people" thing. The domesticated ones are that way for a reason, we took them in because our ways are familiar. And SPECIAL! :teeth:

Keep em coming! I love kitty stories!

:bounce: :bounce:

Our cat is on a vet-ordered diet right now because he weighs 15pds and4oz (he is just over a year old BTW). He is always begging for more food and I feel bad about saying no, but what can I do! Sadly, my 6mo old DD weighs 15pds,14oz, so the cat outweighed her until just recently.

My kitty scolds us when we get home late. He also has the perfect timing for his yips. He's very social and likes to talk a lot. When we are talking about let's say moving and we say something joking like "we can just leave him here when we move" referring to the kitty without saying his name, he can be in another room and he'll yell as if to tell us, "HEY! I can hear you and I don't think it is funny!" Also when we pray as a family and we go around in a circle and everyone prays, Mittens, our kitty, needs to get a turn to pray and he meows and puts in his two cents. It's hard to explain, but I just feel as if he understands what we are saying when we are talking because he chimes in at the perfect timing always.

He also has to drink out of a tall glass in the bathroom. I don't know how this started, but he won't drink anywhere but there. And he has to have this special Mickey glass that we have to refill constantly otherwise it gets too low and he can't fit his nose in the glass. It's so annoying.

I can have a full conversation with him. I tell him something, and he asnswers. I ask him a question and he answers. And it's all different meows so he's saying different things. Gosh, I love him!!!!

Maybe it's the other way around. Sounds like your daughter thinks she's a cat.

:D

My kitties (all 5 of them!) are part of the family. My DD's cat waits for her in bed every night, and cries until Kari comes in to sleep with him. He adores her, and follows her everywhere. This cat also LOVES chocolate pudding cups. He will fight the kids for them if he sees them eating one! They all sleep with us (3 of them under the covers!) and know just how to get Daddy to give them treats every night before he leaves for work.

Kipper keeps trying to love on DH tonight. DH is not a cat person (our dumb dog  belongs to him) and keeps asking me what the heck the cat is doing and to make him stop. LOL! He keeps saying "Hey you! Stop tormenting me! Your master is on the computer!" :teeth:

It always seems that pets can tell when they are not liked and spend extra time around them just to annoy them (or get them to like em) ;)

Yeah - that following me to the bathroom thing is so reminicent of when my kids were toddlers! Our Garfield is an indoor-only cat and goes out to the backyard only with us. I love how he stretches and practically begs to have his tummy rubbed! And he'll allow me to comb him IF he wants it!

I am glad to hear/see our cats are not the only spoiled babies. :D we've got 3 of them. All soooo different from each other.

We have 3 cats and they are our only children for now. They are all from separate litters and have such unique personalities.

We spoil the heck out of them! We just celebrated their birthdays the 2nd weekend of May. We bought them a few new toys and a new litter box. They each had a can of food (which they never get) with a birthday candle and we sang Happy Birthday. They loved it! They each have their own stockings for Christmas and we always wrap a few gifts for them. They all have their own kitty beds, but they always sleep with us. Our cats are indoor-only cats and we take them for walks on leashes in the summer. We also have a screened in back porch where they love to sit and watch the birds.

I was just saying on another thread, do you ever notice how you go out and buy the coolest, most expensive toy you can find to bring home to your cat, but they would rather play with the box that it came in, or the ribbons you used to wrap it with or the ring from a gallon of milk?

Cats, you gotta love them! :cat:

Ya'll should try giving your cat Polor Paws when it is hot outside, Kipper loves it. I know that this is technically a doggie ice cream, but it's beef flavored and cats love it too.

My Bengal, Tigger, does that too - but only with me. He loves being held like a baby, and then he'll put his paw on my face and lick my chin. No other part of my face, just my chin. And the look on his face while he's doing that just melts your heart. Anyone who says pets can't love you back have never seen pets with the people they love.

Tigger also likes to be held so he's sitting almost like a human, with his upper back straight up and his lower back on my lap, legs flying out in every direction. He looks so funny, but he doesn't move.
