....right now...in my hallway. She's an outside kitty (barn cat) and all day long she's been scratching at the door to get in. My son finally opened the door and she went right to the box in the hall, jumped in and is having kittens!:goodvibes

Oh how sweet!! Are you anywhere near A.A.County?? :)

I'd love to come see them sometime!! :cat:

We are in Frederick County. And you could see them anytime! It's so funny--she doesn't like to be alone. She wants me or DD to be out there with her.

I had an outdoor cat that did something similar. She did come in the house occasionally, so she was used to it some. But when she had her kittens she had them in the laundry room, on my old bathrobe.

She then became an indoor kitty, and I had her spayed after her kittens were weaned. I just couldn't send her back outside and worry she would get hit in the road. She was so sweet and affectionate. I had her for 10 years.

My first foster cat did the same thing with me when she was having her babies. Most Humane Societies will spay and neuter her for free if you surrender the babies (they get adopted so fast at my local no kill shelter) - so please do that. My house is so overrun with fosters right now because people aren't spaying and neutering their animals. Our local animal control put down over 400 kittens last year so please spay and neuter! :sad1: If you like kittens a lot, why not volunteer with your local Humane Society - that way you can cuddle with the animals!

If I weren't pregnant, I'd be begging DH and you to let me have one! :goodvibes

Awww sweet kitty..please keep them all safe, Mom too and as others have said here..have her fixed? WAY and too many poor animals are euthanized each and every day:sad1:

I bet they are all darling..

I can't wait to hear more!!! Please post pics if you can. I just love cats. I have three of my own.

please don't allow her back out UNTIL kittens are weaned and she gets spayed. She will go back into heat before kittens are weaned and want to go out. She will be persistent, but don't give in. Once kittens are eating food, you'll have to remove her from them so her milk can dry up and it 'll be easier for her when she is spayed. Sorry, don't mean to preach, just looking towards her future and the fact she'll keep reproducing kittens. Good luck.

You have an out door cat and it isn't fixed?!?!?!?

I agree! Sorry OP, but threads like this make me so mad. There is no reason that you should have an unfixed outside cat. :confused3 I have 4 cats that live at my house thanks to people not fixing their cats. The first 2 I got from a barn that was overrun with kittens and 2 showed up as starving unfixed strays.

I really don't want this many cats, but since the shelters/craigslist/want ads are filled with unwanted cats/kittens what am I going to do with them but keep them! :confused3 I love my cats, but I wish we only had the original 2.

Boy....I'm sorry I posted at this point. Didn't know I was going to get lectured by the pet police. First of all, I live on a farm. I have lived on farms all of my life. I have 150 acres of forest in my back yard. We do keep cats....they take care of the mice and the rats. ALL of our animals are fed, they get their shots, they get seen by the farm vet who takes care of our cattle. I don't dump cats on someone else's property. If a kitten is born on my farm, I either find it a home or keep it and take care of it.

And if someone else dumps cats on our farm, we do our best to take care of them too.

Nothing brings me more JOY than seeing kittens playing in my yard. My kids play with our cats and they are all tame.

If you've had a bad experience, I'm really sorry. We are not irresponsible with our animals. They are MY pets, on MY property, cared for by MY family.

Now, I think I'll go check and see how mama kitty is doing and enjoy the beautiful sight of a mama kitty nursing her babies.

Having an unspayed, or neutered, cat (especially outdoors) is not being a responsible pet owner.

It is fine if you are keeping the cats and aren't freaking cuz you don't know what to do with them. Mama cat will teach her kittens how to catch the mice and other rodents around the farm. Much easier than adopting a cat from somewhere else and trying to teach them instead. It's much different than living in a city and just not fixing your pets.

I respect that you take care of your own and that this is a barn cat. You might want to consider spaying her though because having several litters can be awfully hard on cats.

I had a feeling that this thread would go this way. :sad2:
