Ok, here is the situation. We are going on a trip to WDW January 21-28. We will be going with our two sons ages 8 and 6. Our 6 year old is deaf and has mild autism so he is extremely visual and is completely Disney obsessed- esp Mickey Mouse. This will his first trip to WDW (he has been to DL about 5-6 times) and our older son has been to WDW twice. Once when he was 2 and once when he was 4, so t has been awhile (you would be amazed about how much he remembers from 4 years ago!!) . We will do this trip in 2005, then possibly one in the beginning of 2007 and then we would like to go to Bejing for the Olympics in summer of 2008. There is a possibility that the 2007 trip will be scratched, so we might no make it back to WDW until (UGH!) 2010- 5 years!! Needless to say, I want this trip to be extra special, both for my older son and for my little guy who will likely remember every moment and throw an awful tantrum on the final day when we leave for the airport because by then he will be thinking we live there!

Our plan is to stay at OKW in a one bedroom (rented points) that Sunday -Thursday, but adding on 2 nights somewhere else before checking into OKW. This is where I am frying my brain. We would like to say somehwere the kid's will really feel immersed in Disney for our first couple of nights there since OKW is not exactly the most Disney themed place! So I thought of ASMo. I know our little guy would love it, but the rooms are sort of small. Then again it is only for two nights, and the food court would be handy. We could likely get it for about $60 a night also. We will also already be bringing a blow up mattress for our OKW stay (my kids won't share a bed) and we could use it at ASMo if necessary, or book 2 rooms if we could get a guarantee they woud be connecting.

The other option is trying to stay at POFQ. This would be ice, but it is not nearlly as Disney themed as ASMo. Or WL is another option since we could request bunkbeds, but again, not to Disney. The rooms at the latter two choices would be much more comforatble for us parents, and my older son would love the bunk beds at WL, but they can't gurantee those. I want the boys to enjoy these two nights, but I want my DH and I to be comfortable too. But it is only two nights....What to do?? AHH!!!! HELP!! What would you do?? Am I over thinking this? Any suggestions??

Hi. I wasnt sure what kind of $$ you were willing to spend, but what about the Contemporary? You cant get much more Disney than being walking distance from MK. Plus, I heard they have a great food court and arcade. I have never stayed, only visited, and my kids loved the arcade. Also, Chef Mickey's was terrific!!!:cool:

We are doing Chef Mickey's the first night we will be there. I don't think I would stay there unless we could be in the tower and I refuse to pay about $800 for two nights in the tower when 5 nights at OKW in a one bedroom is costing us $900. Is that silly? Can anyone comment on the garden rooms? Money is not a huge object, but since it is only 2 nights we would like to keep it reasonable. THANKS for the suggestion and reading through my long tale!

I think if theming is your main goal, ASMovies is your best choice. I personally have never been there, but from a child's perspective I don't think you could beat it!
Have fun with whatever you decide!!:teeth:

Not sure of your budget for the two extra nights....:confused:

However, the POLY is about as DISNEY as you can get...IMHO.

Monorail, lagoons, volcano & regular pools, great views, atmosphere, visually pleasing, a daybed along with two queens, etc,,,,etc...etc...

All are good choices!::yes::

What about 2 rooms @ POP? I've read that they'll guarantee connecting rooms if it's adults & younger children (I could be wrong, but it's worth a call). POP is brand-new & the visuals are awesome! It's the only value we've ever stayed in (I had value-phobia, until POP:D ) & we loved it! It doesn't share a bus with any other resort & the layout is relatively compact. We stayed in the 50's section, bldg B & had a lake view. W ecould see Illuminations every night from the breezeway (nice perk). I'm sure there will be discounts for Jan., so you might want a preferred room - the 60's section is adorable & quite visually stimulating. The food court is large with plenty of seating & food choices, and there's a bar @ the pool for the adults. Also, I thoroughly enjoyed perusing each & every shadow box in the lobby - it took me back to some great times in my 40 years! When we rent points, we usually end up in a moderate for the weekend nights, but we did POP over Spring Break & enjoyed it.:D

Hmm, I had not really thought of Pop. I am going to read the FAQ's on it right now! Thanks!

My children LOVED it there. There were 5 of us (DS was almost two, so he was in a crib). Yes, we were a little cramped but not too badly. You would only be there two nights, so I would think you would be fine.

The food court was good. The pool was fun with the water coming out from Mickey. The whole place is a Disney visual wonderland.

Have fun wherever you decide. :sunny:
