I'm looking for a pull out sofa and saw a few at My Bob's with their memory foam mattress which is 4 1/2 inches thick.

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this store and product?

If you are looking for something that will last 5-6 years they are fine but do not expect a long term quality from them... If you do not have young kids and it is not used a lot longer...
Since you are on LI I can suggest where I bought as they are not on LI yet... and it is waiting for a super sale... If I were you I would keep checking the outlets on Old Country Road you should easily be able to find something of better quality for the same price or less.

That's what I thought. I just came home with DD from Bob's and took a good look. I think I'd rather wait and continue looking. I'm not sure what outlets you are referring to. I know we have Tanger Outlets and the ones in Bayport. We also have a bunch of stores on RT 110.

No don't buy their memory foam mattress! A few months ago we purchased 2 of them for our kids. And we returned them in less than a week because they smelled so bad. Even worse my son had some type of allergic reaction to them. I read reviews online about the mattresses and apparently this happens a lot. It is due to chemicals. I like their furniture but will never purchase a mattress from them again.

Don't buy it. My boss bought a "Bob-o-pedic" (seriously, that's what they call them at My Bob's) for a guest bedroom and even for those limited purposes it was a bad mattress. Bob's advertises lots of low prices, but that is for the really cheap quality stuff. Once you get in the store, anything that is of halfway decent quality is priced just about what you would find at any other furniture store.

Poor quality aside, I absolutely refuse to buy anything from Bob's Furniture because their commercials are annoying and just saturate the air waves here in CT.

You get what you pay for. I hate the couch i bought there. The foam in the cushions do not last long and you cannot flip the cushions because the material does not go all the way around. Never again.

Funny you should mention that. I was with DD yesterday checking out the memory foam mattress because we need a small sleeper (we looked at the ottoman sleeper). DD road tested it and whispered to me that it smelled funny!

Thanks for confirming her findings!

Here too! The commercial's are constant. I'm wondering if I could purchase a mattress elsewhere for the sleeper ottoman they sell?

Yes, I've noticed that on most couches you cannot rotate the cushions because they are either sewn in or stay in place with Velcro but I have seen this in many other stores now (I'm sure to save on production). Not liking this. I also did some research about cushion material in general. Again, have found many stores selling the same type of stuffers; Dacron with 1.8 density foam which I believe is boarder line decent.

Near the Roosevelt Field Mall... Just check to make sure they are still there... I know they Had Macys and some others. They are mostly one of a kind floor models. I have not been there in a long long time my Brother lives close and I know he bought some coaches there a few years back.
Sorry Glen cove road the mall is on Old country road :lmao: been a long time... there were others all around that are mostly walking if you dare to walk across Glen cove road that is....

I bought my daughters bedroom set at the Bobs I Farmingdale- I did not order a mattress with it though and when it was delivered I said to the delivery guys "gee I probably should have just ordered a mattress to while I was getting a whole new set" the delivery guy said "Don't tell them I said this but get a mattress someplace else, don't get it from Bob's"- so I took his word for it and bought elsewhere!

This is us too. We bought a sofa and a chair with ottoman last year.....we're never home so the furniture is hardly ever used yet when you sit the cushions sink way down. We didn't get the cheapest set either, just the opposite actually. I'm so mad!! We did get the 5yr warranty but unless the frame breaks they'll just keep re-stuffing them.

:wave2: Hey have you ever been in the Big Lots stores ? I used to love them when I lived up there and recently discovered I have one not too far from me :cool1:

They carry name brands Simmons, Ashley, etc May be worth seeing what your area stores carry

BJs and Sam's club too are another option

:wave2: I did check our local Big Lots but they did not have what I was looking for. I'll have to check back. I also checked Costco but they sell mostly leather. I have not checked BJ's or Sam's (no membership but I guess I could get a guest pass). :thumbsup2

This is one of the things that worry's me. You'd think paying for the added warranty would get them to replace the set. I'd be upset too as I do not have money to throw away!

Holy Poop! This is pretty bad if an employee does not recommend their own product. Thanks for sharing this!

When I was up there last month those commercials were driving me C R A Z Y !!! It reminded me of the old Crazy Eddie commercials back in the day That alone would put me off :rotfl2:

Hope you get what you want soon

OMG, I had forgotten about "Crazy Eddie!" That's exactly what it's like. There is no rush, especially because of the money. But my furniture is 22 years old so pretty much when you sit on the couch you sink and it's hard getting out of that "hole"!

I agree 100%about the low quality foam in the couches and loveseats. I have heard they use an inferior grade that is not really suitable for furniture. My stuff still looks good, but you sink so far down into it when you sit down, its difficult to get up. it is not comfortable at all. I really don't sit in it much at all; I prefer the floor now when I watch tv. Not to mention there is not lot of support for the cushions, either. One of the slats on my couch broke, and we are not hard on our furniture at all.

Which kind of leads me to wonder, how does Bob's keep growing? I guess people starting out in life may shop there and not be aware of the poor quality, but everyone I know who has bought furniture there says never again.

OMG! You just described my 22 year old couch. Can you imagine purchasing a new one only to get the same old cushions. So sorry this happened to you as we all work hard for our money. Furniture needs to last. It's not a disposable item (not that it should last 22 years but certainly a family should get a decent amount of time and use out of it).
