Some of you might remember I'm turning the big 5-0 this year. In August. I will NEVER be at Disney for my birthday. It's hot enough here in Pittsburgh in August let alone being in central Florida. I would melt. Also, I go to my annual camping trip at the beginning of August. Anyway, I will be going to Disney in December, God willing my union doesn't go on strike. Should I have my ever so wonderful Dreams Unlimited travel agent, Kathy, note on my reservation I am celebrating my 50th? It will just be 3 1/2 months later. Also this will be my 2nd anniversary of completing chemo.

What do you all think?

Kim

I'm in the same boat. My whole family has birthdays at times that you'll never catch me in FL (June, August, & around Thanksgiving). If we ever want to do a "birthday trip" it will be well before/after the fact!

I have seen "I'm celebrating my birthday" buttons in addition to the "It's my birthday" ones, so I think it's fairly common to celebrate birthdays not on the actual date.

I say go for it!!

BTW - congrats on the chemo completion anniversary :goodvibes

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!

And if you are planning a trip for early Dec, I would be honored to buy you a moogeetoe to celebrate.

Thanks Kathy, I will be there December 5th through the 15th. I am not really counting the 5th since my flight will be getting in late in the evening, but it gets me 1 day earlier for my ADRs and I will be able to go on the Ft. Wilderness Segway tour the next morning. I will also be attending MouseFest. I hope to see you there.

Kim

Looks like we'll be meeting for drinks!

I'm there there the 4th thru the 8th. Any one else?

Hmmmmm :rolleyes1 Podcast Meet :rolleyes1

I defintely say GO FOR IT! It isn't like they card you when you ask for your birthday button! I went to WDW for my 40th (and my 41st and 42nd) and it was very nice, lots of happy birthdays and some treats. One CM even let me in the FP line for Soarin and I didn't have an FP! :scared1: (and some old guy in front of me was all pissy about it like I took his spot in line  ) but still it's fun. If you ask me you gotta deal with the big ones any way you can! :teeth:

Have a note put on your reservation and get a birthday pin in each of the parks as well. Afterall, you only turn 50 once! :goodvibes

I say go for it.

Tell her it's your BIG birthday.

I'm right behind you, by the way.

My big 50 is in April.

I am celebrating my 29th birthday for my next trip to WDW. it is not chronologically near my birthday and 29 is a ship that sailed long ago... that does not change that I am celebrating my 29th.

I'm going for my birthday, my 8th trip to WDW. WDW was opened two days before I was born.

Kim - WDW in August isn't so bad. ;) ;) When we went last year it was in the mid to high 90s and not a drop of rain the whole week. DH is originally from Pittsburgh.

Congratulations and wear that birthday pin with pride!

You can't be the only one - makes me wonder if Disney has a "celebrating the anniversary of my --th birthday" buttons?

DH and I are in. We'll be there from the 5th to the 13th (though the 13th doesn't really count.) We'll be staying at Boardwalk.

GO FOR IT!

Get a Pin! Heck get a pin in every park.

They can't hit ya!

After all, you will be 50 and celebrating 50 years of life. You are only 50 for 1 year.

29th again eh Rex?

I've still got a few more years till i start repeating birthdays!

Well, I told Kathy to add the note to my reservation. And I think I will get the birthday pins. I'm not normally a person who does this, but 50 is a big birthday and as a cancer victor every birthday means a little more. The only thing I dread about this birthday is the abuse my dsister will be heaping on me. Needless to say, she is younger by nearly 3 years and so is my bil. But they will have their days in 3 years.

oh, and my big 5-0 is in January...............................

..................but I'm not telling of what year.

I see a common theme here. I am planning to be there to celebrate my 50th birthday too.... I have never been there for any other birthday, but have had this planned for a year already. Unfortunately I have to with until October 2010, but it is the first birthday I have looked forward to since I stopped counting in halfs, back in the 60's.
