Ok. I am not one of these mothers that think their kids are perfect. Far from it. I know my little guy can be a little devil at times.

Anyway on our last trip to Disney we stayed onsite. Well, ,it was standing room only. Because My son was little (4) I had him sit on my lap so that a woman that was standing could sit. Well, now I am wishing that I didn't. He burped once. He said excuse me. Well, unfortunately he also picked his nose. I had a tissue so that wasn't really a problem. Other than it being embarassing. Well, after we got off the bus I heard her make the comment that she wishes they didn't let kids that little on the buses. Excuse me? Did I make her sit next to me? I told her that next time she is offered a seat by someone with a small child that she should politely decline. She muttered something under her breath. Needless to say I almost lost it. I decided that it was better to ignore her than to let it get to me!!

I usually run into people like her on the plane trip! There are always people who think that their happiness takes precedence over anyone and anything--even at "the happiest place on earth". Pretty sad...

There should be a no-grouch rule at WDW!

I understand what you're saying. I'm actually surprised at the amount of people who are annoyed by children or the number of children at WDW. It's Disney World, what do they expect?!

Too bad you didn't run into her again. You could burbed and then blown it in her face. (now, how do I make those "evil grin" faces?) LOL Just ignore those sorts. Their grandchildren will take care of them.

What did she expect you to do? Have your little 4 yr old run along beside the bus so she did not have to ride with him:mad:

For crying out loud, you are staying on site and paid for the use of the bus just as much as she did. If she didn't want to ride with children she should have taken a taxi or a personal car:mad:

I feel better now:)

Some people are just Wennies! I think I would have looked right at her and said you should be thankful he didn't throw up on you!!!! sorry people like that make me see red! Hope the rest of your trip was better.

I don't understand why people like her even come to WDW! If you can't tolerate little kid actions and behaviors, I would think another vacation spot would appeal more. :(

Always better to take the high road and ignore thoughtless and rude people, especially when your child is there learning from your example.

Unbelievable what some people will find to grouch about!

Imagine that! Children at Disney World! The next thing you know, Saturday afternoon cartoon matinees at my local theater will be full of kids too!

Some people are only happy when they are miserable (if that makes any sense :D ). Jeez, she should have been impressed that he said "Excuse me". I wish my DD would say excuse me everytime she burps :D

I think you did the right thing. I think ignoring people like that is the best solution.

My son has the manners of someone twice his age. Every time he burps he says excuse me. If we don't call him a good boy he says it even louder!! LOL!!!

I want to be a good example for him. I work in customer service so I know all about trying to ignore totally rude people!!

I work on a helpdesk so I can definitely relate to that :D

If he is that polite at his age you must be doing something right :D

I would have said,

" Well...gee....if you have kids, I feel sorry for them, but if you don't, it's a good thing!"

And not to mention your son said excuse me. My little brother is five so I can relate to burping and all of that fun stuff. ;) My mom babysits a little two year old and i work at the vets office...so, my mom came in the pick me up and the two year waved his hand in front of this one dog standing there with it's owner. The owners like, " No NO NO NO, YOU DON'T DO THAT TO DOGS YOU DON'T KNOW. " Some people are just rude. It's best to ignore them. AND, disney is a family place...come on lady, if you don't want to be around kids, go to Aruba or something! Lol....Ok...I'm done know...hope that makes you feel better about it!:p

WHAT! Children at WDW! GEES what will they think of next ;)

I had the same sort of thing happen at a KIDS shoe store. My son was being great but the salesperson said something about him being too noisy ~ which he wasn't ~ I VERY politely said, "I guess you don't have children." She said she did, I say, "Well, it must have been a VERY long time ago, because you obviously forget what a 2 year old is like." I swear, my son was actually being an angel! I told her that I'll spend my money elsewhere and left. S

Thanks for all the replies!! I feel so much better now. Actually this was the first time something like this has happened to us. Most of the time people are very friendly. Although its hard not to be when my son has the personality of someone that is going to be is either show biz or politics. Seriouly though, he loves people and will talk to anyone.

We went to disney for Memorial Day. It was a spur of the moment trip. DH suprised me with it. Anyway, ,we were in the Magic Kingdom the Saturday before Memorial Day. Right before the park was getting ready to close. After the fireworks. Well, he loves Goofy's Barnstormer. So we went on it like 15 times straight. DH and I took turns riding it with him. One time he came down without him. I am thinking "Is he nuts?" Turns out he was sweet talking the girls that were running the ride. He sweet talked them so much that they ended up riding the ride with him!!!! I tell you he has a future in Politics or show biz!!! Oh not only that but they were so taken with him that they let him ride with Pooh on the ride!!! (HINT: I am not sure if they do this every night but.... all the characters from the character signing came over to ride the Barnstormer!!! Check it out if you are in the park near closing time!!)

Well, this is long enough!!

13 Days until our next Disney Trip. 1st Trip woth our friends!!

I don't know what all the fuss is. Whenever I'm in Disney, I always strap my 4 year old to the roof of the Disney bus. The Bus Drivers are very polite and help me pull the straps tight (I don't want him to fall off you know). I just tell my boy its the bus version of TT.

Now seriously...if she really said this...How could she possibly have picked WDW for her vacation? I'm sorta sorry you had a tissue. Your child should've used her shirt!

If you can't enjoy life and have fun with kids (even, as outrageous as this sounds, kids that BURP), WDW is no place for you!!

I think you handled yourself very well....I never let ANYTHING alter my perma-grin when I'm at WDW!

And, I imagine she was the "vision" of good behavior...thanking you over and over again for giving up a seat for her to sit in....

I am really enjoying this thread and thinking how wonderful you were at handling the situation. You showed much restraint...I'm not sure I would have done the same. But, it was the right thing to do!

Kids will be kids. And, at that age, everything is unpredictable. My son burps and says excuse me and then giggles. Guess that wouldn't have gone over at all. And, guess what, he, too, may put his finger in his nose. Next time just have him offer her a bite.:) Now I'm being mean...shame on me.

My hats off to you for handling it so well. And, I love all the responses. Put a smile on my face and makes me look forward to my next trip.

I have a nice bus story to share!! We were at Blizzard Beach, it was pouring rain so we were leaving. It was DH, myself DS was 2 at the time. The line for the bus was soooo long and everyone got on, we were next, but there wasn't room for us and the driver shut the door. A minute later he opened the door and said the people on the bus had made room for us, because they didn't want to see a little kid standing in the rain! Someone even moved so I could sit down :) That was a pleasant experience for us.

I'm sorry you came across a nasty person. Unfortunately those people are everywhere!! I took my son to the mall a couple months ago and was pushing him in the stroller, walking and looking straight ahead. Well a senior citizen man comes walking toward me and was waiting for me to move out of the way. Of course I didn't because he was walking against the mall traffic. So he muttered...."get out of the way you damn kid"!!!!! Granted, I do look like a teenager, but geez!! I had to laugh though, and just pray that I won't be that grouchy when I'm older :)
