My Balance Due - Why is this so difficult?

Up until yesterday I've been patient and understanding with My Disney Experience. But dang it, the hoops I have to jump through to check my balance due are ridiculous! THAT, at least, should be right up front on my page. I shouldn't have to click around, make a call, and go to another site to find out if Disney has properly credited my account. And enough with the on-screen message about how balance information is not currently available. I spent 45 minutes on the phone yesterday to be told my airfare credit hasn't been processed yet. I changed my park tickets from 6 days to four and the system now shows both. Uncle!!

I know exactly what you mean. I couldn't even get balance details at one point. I spoke to someone at the internet help desk (CM gave me the 800 number) and they explained that once you change the reservation with a discount code (which I did ... used the summer code), then there is a known glitch and balance info does not populate which included the ability to make payments online.

Believe me this was annoying as I am the type to make multiple payments until my package is paid in full. I had to call to make the payment and ask for an email receipt. I will say that once it was paid in full MDE showed a zero balance instead of balance information not available.

You have every right to be frustrated. I spent way too many hours this weekend working on our September trip. What took me about 6 hours should have been able to be done in less than 30 minutes. I have created a log of all the issues I am having and believe me it is lengthy. I plan to send it to the powers that be at Disney eventually to let them know what their customers are experiencing. I have been in IT for over 25 years and people at my company would have already been fired for the shoddy work that went into the new Disney website.

That is so frustrating! I think it has to do with the website itself - I've been having SO MANY issues with it lately! I find it overall difficult to navigate/book a package!

We are DVC members who are at the resorts at least 5 times a year and have never had a problem with early on-line check in until now. 2 days of calls and on-line trying to arrange check in and park plans for next week and again in 3 weeks. NOT fun.

I was never able to see the balance on the package portion of our trip until I paid it off. Then they didn't have any trouble telling me the balance was zero. Before that, it always gave me an error message.

Count my vote as the new site stinks. I tried to call in to have my room switched to a King/Water view and the phone CSR said there wasn't any left, but the website does show some. I guess they don't want to make money. But that phone CSR sure did send me another email letting me know what my balance is.....

You should realize that you are not talking to the resort, but Central Reservations. It is possible that rooms may show up on the website, which always have glitches, where CRO may have more up-to-date info on their computers.

Also, I am fairly sure with the new mods categories a few years ago, you may have to book one or the other....I know at POR, you have to book one category and request the other.

I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. I paid my balance on Friday and have no physical confirmation anywhere (aside from checking my bank statement). At the moment none of my ressies (hotel, passes or ADRs) are anywhere to be found, and I did online check-in, but we are doing a split stay with two rooms at each resort, so who knows if one or four are actually checked in! It is amazing to me that a company as large as Disney can not get a website up and running in 6+ months time!

You're way ahead of me! I have yet to figure out how to check my balance at all, let alone pay it, on the MDE app or the full site. I hate having to call. Call me impatient but I get so frustrated going through a million prompts to do something that every other site in the world lets you do online!! It's 2013!!

I have no discounts yet (come on FD) and my balance doesn't show half of the time. It has some type of error.

Its crazy. I had to call this week too. So you can store a credit card in there but you cant use it to do the one thing you actually need to do.

I don't understand how Disney is rolling out "magicbands" and RTD (or some such thing) for tracking drinks, but can't manage to put out a decant web page.

Last week I made an online payment, it never reflected in my balance and then I noticed it never debited my checking account either. So after reading through this thread, I thought I'll go check "my Disney experience".

One thing I don't understand is why when I open up the web page, it says Welcome Tammie, but when I try to view my reservation information, I have to log in again. Anyway after logging in, I was able to see my balance owing but not my tickets (which I could see everything this morning). I hit the refresh button and had to re-log in again. This time I was able to see the tickets, but not the balance owing. Got the "unavailable" error message.
I'm totally baffled by it :confused3

I refuse to call because like WDW in Pearls said "so frustrated going through a million prompts to do something that every other site in the world lets you do online" and we get the benefit of paying for the phone call. Really!?! no 800 number especially when the site doesn't work half the time.

Ok my rant is over :)

Update:
I logged in again and was able to see everything and MAKE a payment. At least it said I made a payment and gave me a new balance.

The Disney website was hopelessly broken when we tried to use it for our January 2013 trip, and it's still broken as we plan our September 2013 trip. I work in IT and it appears to me that they have High School kids programming their systems... or perhaps it's been outsourced to India! The website is pretty simple, so it's hard to imagine that they can't get it to work after all this time. They really need to clean house in IT, starting at the top!

I don't care if it's outsourced to Dollar General, if they wold just make the darn thing work! :badpc:
The pixie dust is starting to look like a smog cloud over LA!. :duck:

Just for "jollies", I just checked my balance again....
Remaining Balance:
We're sorry. Detail payment information is not available at this time. Please try again later.

I guess I'm the lucky one. I've been planning my September trip for a couple weeks. So far, I've had no issues with MDE or the website. All of my ADRS for WDW (AND this weekend's DLR reservations are online, and on my app.

My reservations were all showing too and then my Ohana reservation disappeared. Then it reappeared. I only rarely was able to see the balance due on the website and I never saw it on the app. I can see that we have Magic Express on the website but not on the app. Why can't the website and the app just be consistent? Oh, and stable would be nice too.
