Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and hugs, I really needed it. She is doing much better and her temperature is slowly going back to normal.

Yes the nurse also told me the catheter does not hurt, it's just uncomfortable. But judging by Trinity's cringing and flexing her body, it looked like it hurt her! I couldn't imagine how it couldn't hurt at least a little bit.

When my dd was about 12-13 months old we had to go through this. They catheterized her, took a blood sample out of her arm (the container for the blood was bigger around than her arm), they did chest xrays. She and I both cried our hearts out (I held her through everything but the xrays-I've heard they don't let parents go back there for these things now). She ran a temp of, I believe, 103.7. They finally determined she had a UTI. She's 10 yo now, and doesn't remember any of it.

I think my little DD has the same thing - she is 14 months old and had a fever of 104 yesterday afternoon. She went to the doctor for the second time in 8 days - did not find anything specifically wrong so they are "waiting it out" a bit to see if it is viral. Her blood work was fine - but how frustrating and upsetting. I'm convinced it doesn't matter how many children you have it is never easy to have one of them sick. First time Mom or not it kills us all...
