What a fantastic idea. I love the water cooler thing too, I will join you on your quest to bring the magic of Disney alive :thumbsup2

i made a clone called randomactofkindess that could have been used but i lost the info for it lol
i gifted a wanted poster

here is my RAOK's:

I was sitting in central plaza when a boy was talking with a group of friends about how he could not get Plunder codes, so I clicked on him, and put in all plunder items I had available in my inventory. He was shocked and thanked me.

Then he clicked on me to trade again and gave me a animators desk and stool. WOOT!!! of which I will play forward to someone else-thank you player!

from there it went downhill only got one other player to accept a gift, a bird hat.

Most just decline trades.

Like I said I do this everyday but will make it a point to do more often during my in game time.

Have a Magical Day everyone!

I only could give out 2 items bc 99% of them declined

I too have tried, I have been very lucky in accumulating credits and have plenty of extra stuff, to gift "guests" in the rooms on Main St.

It was the hardest thing to do! There were a few who accepted the gifts, but most declined. One, I can laugh at it now, even said to me, "oh I don't like that, I don't need them". I replied, well, you can always trade, or sell them and do something else with the credits. :teeth:

Since it didn't go so smoothly, or easily, I set up one of my rooms with all my extra stuff. I then set up a rope across the entrance and a teleporter, so if I dc'd I could get back in. I changed my room title to "Free items - too to a player". I had no sooner clicked that title in then people showed up!!

Well, as another DISer can attest to, when she tried to come by to say hi, uh, I still hadn't picked the brainiest thing to do either LOL

I was allowing people to say what two items they wanted, but oh my, I had people fighting over who was next and why couldn't they have more than two items, why couldn't they come into the room, etc. So I chose, trying to stay with whom I saw first, the quiet ones. They were the ones that turned out to be grateful for the gifts (always nice to hear a thank you). Of course, my already full friends list got innundated with friend requests, and I admit I was glad when it was over!

But those few, who attempted to control the rabble, and expressed thanks really made my day. I wasn't using all that stuff anyway! Why sell it when it could find another good home.

Anyway, I will glady join in the effort, I had stopped, as I am not on as often anymore. But I do agree, VMK needs some more pixie dust in it! pixiedust:

(btw, when I ran a quest, I gave away credits. Anywhere from 250 to 1000 as the prizes. It actually came to over 33,000 credits in prizes, but the point was, how many people decided not to play for thinking there were no prizes! I don't know how many times I had to direct them to the "credit" prize area, and I had already said it in my room description and in the quest window description too! Still some of them left! You can lead a horse to water...) :rotfl2:

I was in a skull rock room storing away some POTC stuff when a girl came in.
We started talking and since she saw me putting up the stuff, she asked me if I had gotten the costume yet (of course I don't). Then she asked me if she could trade could trade for one POTC poster. She then said that she can't play the game so she can't get one for herself.

So I opened a trade window with her and proceeded to put in 3 entire sets of POTC items (minus the costume). I then clicked on accept and she asked if I wanted some ice. I said no, that's ok. :)
She was like "OMG! Thank you!".
She was very happy and surprised to receive those items.

I normally do this in town square. I just sit there and listen to people talking. I gifted some great kids there and a few are still my friends. I am like their "big sister" (if only they knew). When they wanted to trade with people, they would always check with me first to see if it was a good deal or not. Now these kids have VMK collections that are unbelievable.

A con to this is that you have to know who you are talking to. There have been a few "guests" I watched that I was planning on gifting, but their conversation lead me to believe that they were not new to the game.

Have fun - gifting is great - makes people smile.

I give something away ever day I play. Usually I look for someone on Main Street or in that area, I look for a new player, usually by the pins and if they are conducting themselves in a reasonable manner ie no bay be or taken stuff. I click trade and give them an item.

I have made some really nice new friends doing this.

Exactly....some are playing mules....I think I can usually tell especially after I gift by the excitment and how nice the player is.

Not always though I am sure I have given away some to someone mule but I hope that makes them think about magic and maybe they will play it forward sometime.

That's sweet :) I'll give away some of my leota tables and saddle seats :)

If you want to give away stuff, make a "Free" room. I gave away much of my Pirate plunder that I got while trying to win the Pirate Suit. But people search for "free" in the title.
Or some new Guest was trying to start a Falling chairs game, so I went to her room to play. I gave her a bunch of pirate stuff to use as prizes.

I give away free stuff like this a few times a week. In fact my friends and I started a "Giving Tree" room about a month or two ago where we gave away things to guests. Problem was only people entering our room were those with tons of rare pins wearing very rare costumes :rotfl:

Yea but I rather suprise a sad guest instead of giving to everyone who might be rich and happy.

This is really so much fun. I have even taken time away from my daily fireworks practice to surprise newbies with free stuff. I really love doing this and have been loving the stunned and happy reactions I've been getting. I have taken to introducing myself as a member of the "Random Acts of Magic" team and everyone tells me how awesome it is that such a thing exists. I've even put it in my sig -- if anyone else would like to do so, please feel free. Maybe we'll get such a great reputation that the VMK powers-that-be will hear about us and finally get a clue that THIS is what VMK should really be about. Hey, and then they'll give us all Jack Sparrow costumes! Ok, daydream over... lol

Since I started, I have been doing something like this. It really is a great feeling to know that you made someone happy! I know there are people who are more "invloved" in this game than I am and I know I have items that I don't care about, but someone else might be wishing for.

I gave a couple people some of the pirate items (neither showed exciment or happieness and I could guess I was more likely happier to get rid of the items than they were taking it -- lol).

This afternoon *early evening* I was in the Vmk Esplande and helped a rather..uh..large number of guests with questions they had about vmk. I started off helping one very new guest with the basics like how to get magic pins and how to customize a room. Then, more guests saw that I was helping with questions they probably wondered about too. After about 5 minutes, a crowd of 6-7 guests were surrounding me and I literally could not see my avatar anymore lol. They asked questions one after the other and I tried my best to answer them. With every "thank you" that poped up, I felt that much happier to help. It was a nice feeling to know that I made some of these people happy...and it was without gifts. In fact, some guests I helped out in this room where more excited and happy than the two I gave the items to.

After I signed off of vmk today, I wondered if the majority of the people are greedy...or just looking for some help. I suppose I'll never know the answer to that. But, I do know that I have always thought of vmk as a mini-Disney and I would love for it to contain even a little "magic"...which unfortunately seems to be slowly vanishing as vmk grows. I will always try my hardest to keep the "magic" alive like I know all of you are doing as well! I mean, if we don't do it, who will? I think vmk has lost sight of this...we won't.

i already did my duty.. since i had so much extra pirate stuff i gave it all away free to those who couldn't get any.. just making vmk a better place one monkey at a time..
