Hi guys! I just finished up the applications, and I am scheduled for a phone interview this Sunday!! Anyway, I just wanted to talk through the process so far for anyone looking for more information. :)

I am in the Spring 2015 FB group and rumors had been going around that apps would open today. I wasn't totally sure, but I woke up a bit early, around 7 am central, and kept refreshing. By the way, I am signed up for he DCP email newsletter and still haven't received notice of apps opening yet. Anyway, around 815 I saw that you could finally apply. Yay!!

So when you apply, you have to set up an account. It took me a while because a lot of the time you have to scroll down and I didn't. It took me forever because apparently you need a symbo! in the password. So I figures that out eventually! Lol

Anyways, they ask all your info once you start applying the initial application. Name, social, school, work experience, doesn't ask for references, where you live ect. Then it asks you about your preferred jobs. They each had a picture and a description next to them on there with High, Moderate, Low, or No interest as the choices. I think I put high on hospitality, concierge, and recreation, moderate on attractions, main gate operations, BBB, and vacation planner, and low on merchandising, lifeguard, photo pass, and Full service food and beverage. I had zero interest in some like custodial and hopper. Honestly, I think these May have been limiting choices, but I have a Ton of experience as a worker and manager in the hospitality field, and I am a hospitality degree senior, so I was able to justify it.

So after filling all that out which took about 40 minutes, I'm slow! I turned in the application at 850. The. I waited and waited....it seemed like a while since a lot of people on FB we're talking about getting Thank you emails and what not.

Right after applying my dashboard said I was In Progress. Then at 11, I got my Thank you email and the dashboard changed to action required. Basically that means you will be getting the WBI soon!! Exciting!!!

I think for some people they got the WBI rather quickly but I didn't get mine until 1pm, so 2 hours later.

So, the whole WBI is NOT as hard as people make it to be. I think the key is having strong answers. There were question like I am a hard worker, I like to work win other people, the guest it always right. Most were things you would strongly agree on but a few that I was unsure of I left it at neutral. They also ask is about how you would act with roommates, if that would be fun, exciting, ect.

Took me about 30 minutes or so to complete. Then when I completed it the page turned and said look out for the phone interview email!!!!

It was 10 minutes later, and then I got the phone interview email that linked me to the dashboard. I headed over there and clicked on my time for 1115 this Sunday!!! Yay!!

Let me know of you have any questions! I'll add on to this after the phone I interview as well. Good luck!!

I JUST APPLIED!!!

I'm so nervous... I will be continuously refreshing my email to see if I get a reply... AGHHHH

Yay! I'm excited for everyone!! Now, I gotta start getting some sample questions to practice for the phone interview!

I'm applying now, and I am looking here for advice. This was very helpful! I will keep reading your thread! Keep me posted girl :)

Hi everyone! I'm Madison. I put in my application today as well, and I'm excited to say that I have my phone interview Sunday! If accepted, it would be my 2nd college program, so if you have any questions let me know! :goodvibes

Just applied yesterday and my call is scheduled for Monday night. :) I'm trying for DL, though.

Good luck to all of you guys! :cheer2:

So I applied around 4 on Wednesday and about 10 minutes after my application was sent I got an email that said thanks for my consideration and that I would know the status of my application by at least November 17. Then an hour after that I got my email for my web based interview. I did that around 7 Wednesday and 10 minutes after I get the same email again? I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?
Also has anyone experienced this and still got accepted? I'm just confused because theres not really anyone on these forums that is saying that they are getting the same thing!

MY PHONE INTERVIEW

Hi all!

I'm back to talk about what happened on my phone interview! My interview was scheduled for 1:00 and my interviewer, Christina called at 1:02. I answered saying hello and my name, she let me know she calling about the DCP and would go over my choices, and ask some questions, and that at the end I would be able to ask a few questions of my own. Instead of getting into too much, I decided to just list the questions I was asked, and for reference, my top roles were concierge, hospitality, bell services, and main entrance operations!

- To clarify, WDW or DL?

-Are you ok with Spring Advantage? (1st choice)

-Are you ok with Spring?

-Have you ever lived with roomates?

-What, if any were some difficulties of living with roomates?

-Have you ever lived/been around someone with a different cultural background than you (foreigners)?

-What, if any, problems did you run into with someone of a different cultural background?

-Can you tell me about your favorite job position of all the jobs you have held?

-What was a difficulty you have faced in the workplace and how did you handle it?

-Are you ok with lifting 50lb items?

-Are you ok with working weekends, long shifts on your feet?

-Are you ok with working outside in heat/rain?

-If you are working in a hotel and checking out a guest, how would you make their last few moments memorable?

-How would you greet a guest?

-What roles do you feel you are most qualified for?

-How will the DCP benefit you?

-What would you do if a guest is in front of you, a new employee needs your help, and an accident is occurring in the lobby?

-Are you familiar with the Disney Look?

-Any questions for me?

And that was what was asked! The questions were different than what I had anticipated but I feel confident that I gave good answers and made a great impression. A few things I would note is that the interview, and many others are going long, mine was about 35 minutes. My interviewer was very nice and pleasant, but I wouldn't necessarily say it was like talking to a friend....it was like talking to a very nice interviewer! Lol I was unable to get a feel one way or another from her, but I feel confident so I'm not worrying too much.

She also mentioned many decisions will not be made until October, which seems very late! An email I received thanking me for the phone interview, reiterated the same thing. My thoughts are that they no longer want people calling when they don't have an answer in a few weeks, so maybe this will help cut that. But I do think the first wave of acceptances will, hopefully, occur in 2-3 week.

On a sidenote, DCP Professional internships are now open as well.

If you guys need help or questions about the PI, let me know!

Just had my phone interview as well and had a lot of the same questions, minus the scenario ones. I was worried because my interviewer did not start by asking me why I wanted to do the DCP or why Disney at all, which puzzled me because of all the emphasis everyone else puts on that question being asked. Did you also not get that question littleluncher? It had me a little worried that I couldn't explain my dream haha

Yeah, I didnt get asked that either. When asked about roles I was qualified for, I said something like "Well I am hoping first and foremost to be placed as a concierge because I have lots of work/experience/guest help/ect and I would love to do the dcp, especially in this role, because I love the company, it would help me professionally to grow, and is an awesome opportunity. So basically i had to sneak it in. I wouldnt worry if you were unable to get your reasoning across...seems as though most were unable too as well since the wording was odd....how did the rest go for you?

Yeah that was smart! I wonder why they didn't ask it for us. Oh well. Sounds like yours went pretty smoothly, hope you get some good news! And like I posted in another thread, my phone disconnected twice, which was super devastating especially the second time so I don't think I was fully thinking after that. I feel like I actually answered most of the questions well and in a pretty upbeat tone, but I don't think I sold myself well enough in the end.

Ohhh ok, I just read it...I would hate for that to happen but luckily they are understanding of it! And as long as your dashboard is still in progress I would say things are going good....a few people on the fb groups have posted about being no longer in consideration after the phone interview

I made it through the phone interview... got an email this morning asking for some background check information to be faxed over.............we'll see! NERVOUS

Best of luck to all of you applying for Spring 2015. :thumbsup2 My son is currently doing the DCP for Fall 2014. Enjoy the entire process. It is a real adventure.

I applied this Thursday, had my WBI on Friday, and have my phone interview tomorrow at 8:15 pm. I'm so nervous.

Honestly, my best advice is to just wait it out. Have you joined a FB group yet?
Is the "Disney College Program Spring/Spring Advantage 2015" FB group, like the main one for info and such. And as an applicant can I join that one or will I have to wait til I'm accepted into the program to join?

Pretty much the same with me, I took out the questions that I wasn't asked to give an idea of the same questions they ask, my roles were Lifeguard, Operations/Attractions, QSFB (do not want hospitatlity/retail) so I had questions specific to those.

I was worried because my interviewer did not start by asking me why I wanted to do the DCP or why Disney at all, which puzzled me because of all the emphasis everyone else puts on that question being asked.

Same with me! I tried to insert it in a little bit with one of my questions, but I never had a chance to fully explain my love for WDW

It's not too bad keypooh, I'd recommend going thru some of these threads that list the questions, keep in mind the roles that you highly rated and try to get a feel for the questions they'll ask that may be situational for that role.
