My appliances are turning against me!

I used my crockpot the other day and burned my hand on the outside of it! That's never happened before!

Yesterday I took my breadmaker out to make bread, and the blade that mixes the dough has the paint peeling off of it! I have no idea why it did that. I always made sure it was clean and dry before I put it away and it's not kept in a damp place or anything.

My husband seems to think it's perfectly normal for the crockpot to be hot on the outside - is yours?

And as for the peeling paint, he wants me to buy a new blade for it - $20 on Ebay plus shipping. The breadmaker is at least 15 years old and I was thinking of replacing it. How long are they supposed to last?

My crockpot always get warm on the outside. I've never burned by hand, but it does get hot. I've had my breadmaker for almost 13 years and it's still going strong. I LOVE mine, and I don't think they make them like they used to. My father-in-law got a Sunbeam (after having the same West Bend one as us) and he hates it. The blade on mine is just plastic - no paint.

My major appliances are on a revolt! My dishwasher that is only 6 months old won't clean the dishes. It's still under warranty so hopefully they will fix it - just waiting for them to call me back. My washing machine decided it didn't want to work this weekend - heard a terrible screeching noise and my porch was all full of smoke. I'm really hoping it's just a belt. And the ice-maker on my freezer gave up the ghost.

It always comes in "three's", LOL.
I have a Rival Stainless steel crockpot (newer model) and it does get a little hot on the outside -- not "blister my hand" hot, but hot enough that I want to pull it away.
Right now, it's my dryer (loves to eat drawstrings, iron ons, silky material in the little crevice around the drum) and various plumbing areas throughout the house. I swear sometimes it seems like DH is changing the toilet flusher thingee (how's that for precise and descriptive) every day! And no matter how hard he tries, he can't get the faucet in the bathroom to quit leaking completely. Oh the joys of homeownership!
I feel your pain.
