We are going down in 3 weeks and I am starting the final itinerary planning (I am crazy with the amount of detail I have) The crew is me, DH, DD7, DD13, DD's Friend 14, DD's Friend's Brother 11, Friend's Father.

This is what I am planning for 8/21, which has EMH in the mornning for AK (we will go back later in the week for evening EMH) and in the evening for MGM (this will be the only time we go to MGM all week).

AK:
EE; safari; ITTOBA, At this point, I figure dinoland will open. FP Dinosaur, Triceratops Spin, primeval whirl, ride dinosaur, FP Kali, Flights of Wonder, ride Kali.

BACK TO HOTEL to eat and rest (I figure this should be around lunchtime)

MGM (about 5 pm):
FP RRC, Star Tours, Muppets, Beauty and the beast, Get seats for fantasmic (and eat turkey legs while waiting), see fantasmic. RRC, TOT, Great Movie ride, Little Mermaid

Any thought or ideas welcome. I will post my itiniraries for other days for comments as soon as I make them up.

AK is laid out really hard to get from one place to another without the hustleing......Just remember that this is a hot time of the year and usually full of PEOPLE. I really enjoy Dinosaur and would like to do it more then a few times. The Safari is good first thing in the morning if someone else can get your fps for EE.....just remember to have fun

Have fun? I'm an obsessive planner so everyone else can have fun. :teeth:

Assuming I run for EE fast passes first thing in the morning while the rest of the crew goes to Safari, how long do you think it would take me to go to EE and get back to Africa? Would I be able to join the rest of my party in line, or will they have been loaded by then?

We used to like Dinasaur, but then we did Indina Jones in Disneyland and now aree indiferent to Dinosaur. One ride will be enough for us.

I may be mistaken, but I don't think any of the rides will be open after Fantasmic is over. There is only one show per night (late).

It's an EMH night. The rides I listed should all be open.

My dh ran and got fastpasses for EE. It took him about 20 minutes to get back to us... but he got lost along the way. We just waited for him right out side Safaris. The line for Safaris was short, so waiting for him wasn't a big deal.

With the ages of your kids I would cut the rest short for 2 reasons at their ages they don't need much and importantly at their ages one ride on RNC and TOT won't be enough! on our last trip this is the park everyone wanted to backtrack to just to ride those two rides. If you need to rest I would send the kids ahead to get started on those rides.

I don't know. It's a very long day. We start EMH at AK at 8 am and EMH at MGM ends at 11:300 pm (and then we have Epcot EMH planned the next day)

You are right though, my girls are dying to do RNR and TOT. I'll have to think about it. :confused3

I wouldn't take a break. at those ages they should be fine, and they will be excited to be at disney and will be able to stay up.

One of the reasons I was planning a break (for me not necessarily the kids) is that the heat will probably be unbearable from noon-5. It also gives the kids a change to go to the pool and cool off.

What do you guys think if we went to MGM at 3 pm. That way, we would have 5 hours in that park before fantasmic and then another 3 hours after fantasmic. That should be enough for the kids, right? I know it is probably too much for me personally.

I'm not an expert, but based on past experiences, I do have a few comments:
1. Definitely take a break! You are right about the heat - especially in AK. You need that to cool off and get refreshed for your evening activities.
2. I think AK sounds pretty doable. However, just be aware that FP for Kali may be gone by the time you get there - especially in the hot weather - they go fast! Also, are you planning to do the Lion King show? I would recommend it.
3. MGM - Rnr is quite far from Star Tours. Also, the one time we did MGM EMH, we saw Fantasmic, then proceeded to Tot and Rnr where we found 60 minute waits with NO fastpasses available.

Good luck with your planning. I hope everything works out for you.

We will do Lion King on a different day (I am planning to do EMH on one evening and take in Lion King and parade)

I have a question about Kali. What time does it open? Last time I was at AK it didn't open until 10 am, so I figure with my plan, I should be able to get a reasonable return time with a FP.

I want to get a FP for RNR as soon as we come into the park. I hope there are still some left that late in the afternoon.

Does anyone else have any ideas?
