My Airline just filed bankruptcy!!!

Yes. For most banks, 60 days from the date the purchase was first made.

It's 60 days from the date the bill with the disputed charge is mailed to you, in most cases you'll have more than 60 days.

I'm not sure if the rules are different for airline tickets. I think your money is held in escrow until your flight.

You're correct about 60 days from the billing date of the statement on which the charge appears. Thanks for pointing that out.

However, the "held in escrow" only applies to charter airlines, and the charter airline is required to hold the money in escrow, not the credit card company, so compensation must be sought from the defunct airline, not the bank. Also, I don't believe there is anything in place, other than the regulations, that ensures that charter airlines comply with the escrow requirement.

AFAIK the airline in question is a charter airline and they're telling their customers to seek a refund from their credit card company. Probably easier for the escrow agent to just refund in bulk to the credit card companies.

I think the credit card companies are enforcing the escrow requirements so they're not stuck. One of the airlines, I think Delta, is going after AMEX for holding back too much money in case of failure. I know it's a scheduled airline so at least AMEX is being careful.

Your credit card company will do a charge back to TMA after they investigate the claim. In our case when it was Southeast, also a charter airline, it only took about 6 weeks to have the money refunded to my credit card. We were well past the 60 day limit but since it was an airline ticket to be used in the future, they waived the time limit on the claim. My cc compnay was Capital One . If you paid with cash, check or a debit card then you will need to file your claim with the bank handling there fiances.

Wow I almost booked them a few months back, for our upcoming trip. I was almost ready to pay extra because they were flying from Harrisburg which is closer than Philly and much, much smaller.

Good luck.

Hello there! anyone that was flying out of ROCKFORD in the future:

Email the director of Rockford airport and he will get you your refund, this has been on the rockford news all weekend long.

We had tickets booked on TMA out of Rockford for Thanksgiving. Now we are searching for tickets to replace them. Has anyone ever flown out of Milwaukee's airport?

Corvette: I'm doing research for our summer trip and Milwaukee has Midwest Airlines (non stop) or Airtran or NWairlines which the poster said offer limited non stop service. I personally haven't flown out of Milwaukee, but the poster was helpful. Bloomington, IL is another option. another poster familiar with that airport said airtran flies 4 days a week non stop to mco. I'm going to keep plugged into Rockford, though, can't believe they won't get another carrier to do the Orlando to Rockford flights...they were always full airplanes. And Sanford was so nice and small (and stressless) compared to mco.
Good Luck. :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I have flown Milwaukee and it is okay but no real time saver compared going to Ohare. I found air out of Ohare for $181 round trip and I will check at Midway when they post fares past Feb. 3. We fly home on Feb. 5.

We have flown on Midwest out of Milwaukee It went well and it is not bad to get in and out of. Midwest gives you a little extra leg room with their seat configuration. If Midway is an option Southwest has been having some incredible fairs lately.

Good Luck,

I have not flown out of Bloomington but a coworker recently did and said that it was a great trip with a small airport like Bloomington it is typically very easy to check in and go through security. We have flown out of Gary many times and I would assume it is similar to Bloomington. Sanford Airport I can speak first hand about. We loved flying in to Sanford. It has a nice little terminal and the rental cars were a breeze each time we went through there. When ever I am asked by one of my coworkers who all know I am a Disneyaholic I tell them that if they can fly in to Sanford do it.

I haven't read all the replies but we've driven from Rockford to Orlando many times. I really don't think it's that bad.

I drove from NW burbs of Chicago to Orlando. Took about 1 and 3/4 days. We stoped the first night in Murfreesboro TN, a small town southeast of Nashville. It wasn't bad (but very boring!). We left VERY early on the first day to avoid the Chicago rush hour, and almost as early on the 2nd day to make sure we didn't hit the Atlanta area during rush hour.

And while you should check airlines like ATA and SWA, don't forget to check the big carriers like American and United. They often run big sales to Orlando. Not as often as the others, but always worth it to check it out!

If you pushed on a short distance more to Chattanooga you would be half way there mileage wise.

Get up early and skip the continental breakfast and move out fast. You want to get thru Atlanta BEFORE rush hour. They say Atlanta has the largest free parking lot. THE INTERSTATE AROUND AND THRU ATLANTA DURING RUSH HOUR!!!
