My guide called and informed us that our add on 65 pts OKW March UY came thru. I was also on the list for 65 additional BCV as a backup in which we already own 165 pts.

Now Im torn. The BCV points have not come through yet but the OKW points have. I wasn't expecting these to come thru so soon.
We really like OKW but I can't consider OKW without considering SSR which in this case would cost less initially, but would cost more in maintenance and points required.

We are planning a family reunion in 2005 and I would like to use these points to help cover lodging for some. I'm sure they would be happy to stay wherever, but I can't say that the added amenities of a SPA and waterslide at SSR are not tempting. OTOH OKW has 2 Q studios and would accomodate more adults if that ended up to be our reunion makeup.

I could cover more studio nights at OKW than I could at SSR.

As for personal use, I could see where we could benefit from each location and Resort. We really like them both and since BCV is our primary home and where we would choose to stay the most, we would like our add on points to complement our BCV.

The points required are more important than the 50 year contract to us as we will use these add on points to cover extended stays, additional guests, maybe an adult get away etc.

So here are my choices and some considerations:

65 points added to BCV =230 pts total 1 DVC Resort (waitlisted)

65 points at OKW $84 $3.49 maint. (subj. to change) low Pts. for GV, low points in off season, larger accomodations. (available now)

65 points at SSR $79 $4.00 maint. (subj. to change) SPA, waterslide, close to DTD. (available now)

The prices quoted are correct. (trust me)

The next 3 years we have solid plans to go to WDW at least once and preferably twice per year. We will not have any trouble using the points, and we don't mind switching resorts for stays longer than 1 week.

Right now we have enough BCV points to stay Sun-Thur in a 1 Bedroom and our addon should cover us for the weekend nights as we don't travel at peak times of the year. We also don't mind borrowing if we need larger accomodations.

Thanks
Lifer

I think once SSR is totally sold (I know, a long way off) other non-home resorts are going to be much harder to book. Lots more people looking for few space (ie VWL, BCV). I would say think about how happy you would be at OKW or SSR before making a final decision.

Personally, OKW is not in the action enough for me and I assume SSR will be the same (though the extra years are tempting). I would probably wait for BCV to always have the one hoe advantage.

JMHO

One thing to consider - with OKW I assume you will get 2003 points which you could bank, SSR will only start with 2004. So you really aren't paying more for OKW, you could also rent those 2003 points @ $10 and get your cost down to $74.

You can do more with 64 points at OKW then any other resort. We own at OKW, BWV and BCV and love them all. Our 1st love however is our home resort which is OKW....spruce

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the $10 discount on the SSR points (bringing it from $89 to $79) is only on add ons of 100 points or more??

So if that is the case, then the OKW points are less and you would also get 2003 points like DebbieB mentioned.

Talk to guide today - 100 min point add-on to qualify for $10/pp incentive discount at SSR.
