My 2yo will turn 3 before our APs expire. How does that work?

Hi Everyone,

I thought I read something on here a while back that if your 2 year old turns 3 before your AP expires you don't have to get them a seperate one. Is that true? Did I get it mixed up? Just wondering because DD will turn 3 almost 4 months before our passes expire and it doesn't make sense to get her a pass until we all renew ours.

Is there a rule on this subject? TIA!

If they are 3 they need a ticket of some kind, whether you get her an AP or just tickets until you renew.
Or you can renew at any time online, you don't have to wait for them to expire. Ours don't expire until March, but every time I log onto the AP website, it asks if I want to renew.

Yep, she'll need a ticket. But, to me, it does make sense to get hers at a different time then yours. It will split up the money a little bit, making it a bit easier to budget.

We have our family split up into 3 different times of the year for renewal, it makes it so much easier on the pocketbook to do it this way. If I had to do everyone at the same time, we would never own APs.

My neighbors were in the very same situation and were told by a CM at the AP place on Main Street to not worry about it. So take it for what its worth. Our passes expire in December but my 2-year old turns 3 in October. Our next trip will be in October or November. So, I'll be in the same boat as you. But to be honest, I'll check with a CM first and if they let me go without buying a pass, I'll do it.

There is the OFFICIAL answer and the "don't ask don't tell " answer. This is what happened to us. Not what we DID but what happened. Bought my newly 3 year old son a 4 day park hopper with the intention of buying him an AP at the end of the trip. Every time I got to the gate they waved him in and never once asked if he needed a ticket. But I had it incase they did. It expires in January and I will use it in November to get him an AP. If they are in a stroller and such I dont think they care really. But officially they do need one.

Well, we are *excited* to get to pay for DS this trip. He will be 3 and almost 4 months old, and it's incredibly thrilling! Getting a 5 day pass, and will be upgrading to APs. :)

I can't imagine not paying for his trip, b/c it's such a milestone, the first trip where he's old enough to be charged!!!

Now, if we had gone back in May like we wanted, and if his birthday had fallen DURING our trip, I wouldn't have worried about it, because countless CMs have told DISers that a birthday DURING a trip doesn't "count" (the phrase people have said is that we might celebrate birthdays, but no one actually ages at disney). But his b'day is over Mem Day weekend, and I highly doubt you will EVER see us at Disney over a holiday weekend, LOL.

But yeah, 3 years and just under 4 months, we're paying for him! Yay!
