My DD is 2 and 4 months old. We bought her a little toddler bed. We let her pick it out (DORA) and she picked out her pillowcases, sheets etc (blue and white gingham). Ok she loves the bed and will get in it for story and bed and then when we go up to check on her later.....she is sleeping on the floor!!! She says she likes it but it is so COLD and hard!!! I usually pick her up and put her back into bed but she ends up back on the floor :confused3 Why would someone prefer a cold hard floor to a nice warm bed with a feather comforter and fluffy blankets and pillows?? We have asked if she is to hot..no she just prefers the floor. I tried putting a sleeping bag a rug and blanket on the floor she moves them aside and sleeps on the floor..no blanket no pillow..... We have tried stuffed animals etc. I know it wont hurt her but it really makes me sad to see her there in the morning. She does not do this at naptime at her sitters, just here at night.....she is on the floor right now for nap..it makes me sad to see her there.... :guilty: Anyone ??

eventually she'll get over it and sleep elsewhere. As long as she is in warm jammies, and the floor has a nice warm rug on it, she will be fine.

For about 2 years, DS made himself a "nest" on the floor (down comforter, pillows, blankets, etc.) and slept there. Fine with me. Whatever.

We do put her in nice soft "feeties" but she moves the rug....I keep thinking maybe we should have kept the crib :confused3 but she kept climbing out of that.....oh well I look forward to the day she sleeps nice and warm in her nice cozy bed.

My son was also the same way for a while I would joke and say we should of saved the money on buying him a bed, he spent most of the time sleeping on the floor....he is sleeping in a bed now but prefers to go upstairs and sleep with his 6 year old sister ... :confused3 We have 4 kids and they all prefer to pair up and sleep in one bed ( 2 in one bed, 2 in another) not sure what thats all about :rotfl:

Hey as long as she is sleeping well and waking up feeling rested, I would let her continue to sleep on the floor.

My kids don't sleep in their beds, they sleep on top of them with their favorite blankets on top. Hey, I only have to wash their comforters, and don't have to remake their beds every day!

I posted almost the same exact thing about my 2 year old a few years ago.

he's now 4.5 and he's back in a bed. I used to worry so much about it, but eventually, after a few months of floor sleeping, we got him a regular full bed (he hated the toddler bed) and now he sleeps great.

This too, shall pass.

The little boy I babysit does the same thing and has for awhile. He is 2 1/2. He sleeps fine in the pack'n'play at my house but at home he always sleeps on the floor by the door. His mom isn't too worried because he is sleeping, just not in the traditional place. She did have to put a lock on his closet door though because one time he wandered in there to sleep and he woke up freaked out and kind of stuck and she couldn't find him right away.

All three of my girls did the same thing at 2-3 yo. I thought they must be cold but I would find them blankets off and naked!! :earseek: . I think they just may get warmer at night then adults. The oldest is 11 now so she lived thru it :rotfl: . I did feel like I was going for the "Mom of the Year "award !! NOT!!

Oh well, at least she is not the only one. I just went up to check on her and she is asleep with "OJO" and "BEAR" on one side and our cat "BACI" on the other....snoring away. :cat: At least she has company.

My ds is 4.5 now but he has always liked the floor better than a bed. Given the chance he would sleep there everyday!

We usually just let him. He goes to sleep in his bed but usually gets out and makes a bed on the floor for himself!

My brother went through a phase when he slept on the floor. My mom said it lasted about 6 months and then he just stopped and started sleeping in his bed like it was no big deal.

DS has only slept on the floor a few times. He stays in his bed but lately he is balled up in a corner by the wall, without a blanket (or even clothes sometimes) and usually sleeping on top of some hard toy. I don't know how on Earth he gets any sleep like that but somehow he does and he certainly has enough energy each day. Before I go to bed I usually try to pull out any toys that he is sleeping on top of and I throw a small blanket over him and try not to worry.

Its just fine, If theres enough sleep and rest than no worries right?
