I was told to get a "this is my first trip to disney pin" when we check in because "wearing it may bring you special surprises" does anyone have an experiences they would like to share if anything "special" happened to them

You will find about 1 in 10 others are wearing these also. You won't get much outside of an occasional acknowledgement by a CM.

My son and I both wore them on our first trip and didn't really get acknowledged at all. My wife had a birthday pin and was acknowledged by a lot of CM's and guests.

As mesaboy2 pointed out, there are alot of people that wear the celebration pins now. While it won't hurt if you do wear them, I wouldn't expect to get much of anything other than a few congratulations or "Welcome!" type comments. You may get selected to have a magic moment during one of the shows or something similar if the CM doing selections happens to see it, but at this point that would probably be about it.

We got them for our girls their first trip, but not in hopes of anything "special". We kept them as souvenirs. We were randomly selected as "family of the day" at OKW, that was fun. :) The girls got tiaras and wands and we got a big ole bouquet of balloons, and each got a pin that said "OKW family of the day" and that day while we wore them every OKW CM that passed us said "good afternoon/evening family of the day" with a bow or a curtsy to the "Princesses" .

I plan on getting a birthday pin this trip since we will be there ON my birthday (yay!). Don't care if I get anything at all, its for me. :)

Truth be told, the thing that tickled my DDs the most, was when they were dressed as princesses on the buses the drivers almost always played the "Attention guests, you are riding with Disney Royalty" lol it was too much fun!

But you never know with Disney. Pixie Dust flies, and sometimes it lands on you. :)

I wore a first time button for our first trip in June. I got a few comments but not many. When we wore our anniversary buttons we got a free dessert to share at one place, but not others and my DH got a free dessert on his birthday when he wore his birthday button. None of the buttons "get" you anything. You may or may not be recognized for something special.

Something else that may be of interest to you- I picked up a "pin trading pin" that says My First Visit to Walt Disney World. It has Mickey Mouse with all the park icons. I thought it was a cute souvenir to bring home.

We never got anything with our first trip buttons. But I think with some celebration buttons you do get more responses. DH and I had happy anniversary buttons for our 20th anniversary on our recent trip and we got a lot of recognition. He was pulled up at ETWB to be a knight (both men selected had celebration buttons on) and we also got pulled up with a just married couple by the Tam Tam drummers in AK at the end of their show for a special blessing. Oh and the Tam Tam drummers made him dance which was pretty awesome. I also wore my class of 2014 grad ears about half the time on our trip and got a lot of congratulations.

We didn't get our buttons to get anything special, but because we were celebrating and wanted to shout it out. Though it was cool to get the congratulations and other things. It did make the trip a little more magical.

Where do you get the 1st visit/birthday buttons?
At our hotel, at the parks, all of the above?

I feel like we got much more recognition when wearing our just married and anniversary pins.

Got one for DS last year, and he was also wearing his 'my first haircut' Mickey ears, and CMs really didn't take much notice. I mainly get them as a keepsake.
