Yes I do remember my mom always saying that I was eating everything that was never nailed done. Now I am always in need to lose some pounds.. but OMG to watch my son eat 5-6 meals a day is just incredible. I actually had to fight for the last piece of chicken today.

I can definitely feel your pain. Before my nephew shipped out to boot camp, he was eating me out of house and home. One night he ate about 3 dozen boiled shrimp for dinner, fries and was snacking about an hour later.

When my DS13 was a toddler, he hardly ate anything. I was so concerned, I spoke with his pediatrician who told me he was gaining weight just fine and that I shouldn't worry. "By the time he's sixteen, he'll be eating you out of house and home." Well,
my son is now ahead of the timetable. He just lives in the kitchen. The refrigerator and pantry doors are always open with him standing in front. I get constant complaints that I never have anything to eat in the house. How can I when he's always eating everything! AAARRRGH!

Yeah! I don't get it! My DD can eat anything and still remain a pole!

I wish my DS 12 almost 13 would eat more! He is so picky and is skinny, skinny'

I can relate, but I have TWO teenage boys instead of one, plus an almost 9-year-old one who is currently on a growth spurt. I had to stop on my way home from baseball tonight to buy a couple gallons of milk -- after all, it had been like 27 hours since I last bought two gallons of milk!

I can so relate. I have twin nearly 16yo sons. They never ever ever stop eating. Plus all of their friends are always at my house and eating too. I actually just tried talking to them about having less friends eat here because I am going broke. Afterwards I felt bad, because I really want their friends to feel at home here. They literally meet me at the car with the groceries and start eating it from the bags. Then two days later they complain that there is never anything here. Why don't I buy more good stuff. On top of it I have an 18yo dd who is thin and a light eater. But she never gets any snacks because the boys eat it much faster then she does. I have begun having her set aside a small amount for herself right from the grocery store and giving her a hiding place. We actually have food wars here.

Have a 14yo here, and I can definately relate. The good thing is that he is also going to be taller then his Dad (DH is 5'6"), and I prayed and prayed he would take after my side of the family. My biggest problem is going to get a pan out of the cabinet and it is missing, and I find it and many other dirty dishes in DS room. GRRRRRRRRRRR!

Tigeroo- I hear you! I have a DS16 who has 2 friends that sleep over every weekend- they can each polish off a box of cereal for breakfast:eek: Add my DS13 to the mix and my 260 lb DH, and DD and I are lucky if we get the crumbs:rolleyes:

I can relate. My almost 13 yo DS is eating me out of house and home. My 9 year old is following right along. My 11 & 7 yo's aren't quite as bad, but I'm sure it won't take long for that to change.

LOL!!! I know just what you mean! I have 2 DSs...13 and 14 and I just can't keep food stocked any more! We are heading to Hilton Head and each son is taking a friend...that means 4 teen boys!

I am buying all kinds of snacks here before we leave. Add in the sun and salt water and .....well..... you can only imagine the food we will go through!!

I feel your pain. We like to grill out a lot in the summertime. No matter what we make, we usually pickup a 4 pound package of boneless chicken to grill after making burgers or steaks. My son can go through that 4 pounds of chicken in a matter of a couple days. It's really depressing when, only a couple of days after cooking all that chicken, I go to the fridge and find that the chicken is gone and that my hopes for a plate of chicken nachos are just that. Hopes. I think that I'm going to have to start hiding the food from him.

LOL I can relate. Try going on a BSA trip with a dozen teenagers. There is no way to pack enough food in to keep them filled.

When does the feeding frenzy typically start? My 10 year old DS is still as picky as ever and eats very little.

Oh yeah-glad to know there are others in the same boat-12 gallons of milk a week-buying cereal 20 boxes at a time and people who complain that " I am so hungry i can't eat fast enough". DS 17 is a serious competitive runner so on top of the normal teenage metabolism he eats extra. (around 10,000 calories a day) and DS 14 ( who is already 6'2") is having a growth spurt. I cry everytime I go to the grocery store!

planogirl-I can't help you-my boys were never picky or small eaters at all. I do know that it seemed like my nephew, who turned 13 in March and had alway been a picky eater seems to have suddenly discovered food.

I have a 15/16yo son who is a serious competitive runner as well as competing in surfing contests in the summer. I can never keep weight on him, especially during cross-country season. My son would love to train in colorado with the altititude and terrain. Does your son do distance or sprints? My son is trying to make some major improvements on his times by doing some serious training this summer, and I never know how to help him. I am always looking for some tips. If you have any thoughts pm me, as I know very few parents whose kids run. Most of them do soccer, football, etc.
