In 2013 my mom and I decided to check out MNSSHP. We schedule a trip for September, and loved it so much we went back the following three years. I was teaching online those three years, but now I'm also teaching several face-to-face classes which prevents me from leaving in the middle of the semester to go to WDW. We've been going to WDW about once a year for 28 years now, and I was pretty disappointed because this summer we can't go due to other obligations. I realized we probably would not make Disney in 2016. I was supposed to go on a DC in January, and we were going to swing by the MK but I got a concussion the day before we were supposed to leave and I had to cancel the trip. Anyway, I was planning my schedule for the fall and realized my semester is ending a week earlier than usual. I checked the December crowd calendar and realized the crowds are not too bad the 2nd week of December. So, I booked us a trip. I'm now trying to decide is MVMCP is worth the $$. It looks like comparing it to MNSSHP, MNSSHP has more to do and see for two adults. We love the parades and the shows, but we also like the trick-or-treating. Apparently we went to MVMCP when I was very young, I don't remember much about it except I guess it "snowed" on Main Street and there was hot chocolate. We've been at Christmas other times, and we didn't go back. So, that kind of makes me think that we didn't find it worth the money, but this would've been in the mid 90s. My mom says she doesn't really remember MVMCP either.

Anyway, my question is for those who have been to both (and can remember them) is MVMCP comparable in "fun" to MNSSHP? I'd like to see the parade and buy the souvenirs, but I'm not sure if almost $100 a ticket is worth a parade and souvenirs. I've tried to find youtube videos to compare, but all I find for MVMCP is the parade, a few shows and the fireworks.

Yes, the fireworks and parade (with Main Street "snow") are the main selling points of MVMCP.

There is also cookies and hot chocolate. And some character meets wearing Christmas outfits.

We love MVMCP since we love Christmas and Disney. I can see how it may not be for everyone.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure if there was something else I was missing. I love Disney and Christmas too (all our decorations are Disney at Christmas), but it just doesn't seem like it's much more than what you already get with the parks at Christmas. I think the treat-or-treating really makes MNSSHP so much more interactive than just a typical park visit.

Have experienced both in recent years, I agree that MNSSHP offers more especially if you and your party members enjoy Halloween including dressing up. MVMCP is nice with some added holiday spirit but in our view does not add much experience and value as a extra $$ event - more so now with the increased costs.

Not sure adults are going to be allowed to dress up this year. Disney made an announcement about that after the Paris attacks and also the weapon episode at WDW.

We'll be in WDW this December and I'm still wondering if we will do MVMCP or hopefully, the SW Dessert Party. They are both pretty steep so I'm trying to make a decision on which one. We have done the MVMCP in 2013 and loved it but would also love to try the SW Dessert Party. Any thoughts on the dessert party from folks who have done it?

Adults can dress up for MNSSHP. There are some new guidelines (in particular, nothing dragging on the ground), but they can definitely dress up.

That must be pretty recent news then but it is good news indeed!

We've been to both and love them both! I would definately go to MVMCP if you're going to be there at that time.
The fireworks and parade are amazing and we are looking forward to the accapela group Voice Play. We truly had fun at the dance party and the park decorated at night for Christmas is phenomenal!

I'm a little late to the party, pardon the pun, but I just checked out the price of MVMCP tickets and I almost choked. $92/pp for the dates we are there. Looks like a $25 hike since the last time we went in 2013. I will definitely have to rethink my plans to attend this year.
