Our trip is the first week in December. My DD are 9 & 6, wondering about MVMCP. Is it worth it?
Would it be terrible to skip it?
Thanks!!

We did the MVMCP in 2012. We were there that first week of November also and really loved it. My daughter, who was 5, thoroughly enjoyed the party. My mom, sister, husband and I, were so-so with it. The shorter ride lines were a definite plus! But, since Cinderella's castle was already lit up during the week, there just wasn't a lot of differences than being there on a non-party night. Although, the parade they do during MVMCP is awesome and I don't THINK they show that parade during a regular non-party night - someone correct me if I'm wrong.

We took our DGD 6 & 4 this past Dec (1st week also :) ) and we all loved the MVMCP!! We had a pretty relaxing am that day--slept in, went to mini putt, and swam in pool for a short time. Then we headed to MK around 5pm and stayed till closing. The parade, shows, and fireworks are amazing!! We were able to practically walk on alot of the rides during the 1st parade. The only negative was the scary congestion around the hub with people trying to leave after 1st parade and people trying to stake out seats for 2nd showing. I was actually scared for my DGDs safety--we ended up carrying them to keep them safe!! :(. I consider this a must see event.

The Christmas Parade runs twice per day beginning immediately after the last MVMCP... December 20th or so until January 3rd.

Was there the 1st week of December 2013, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The "free" cookies and hot chocolate is a nice touch as well, and as jvarne1 has stated, the shorter lines are wonderful.

It's going to be hard for me to say if your family will enjoy it as much as I did; I liked having my photo taken with the characters that were out, and loved the atmosphere of being at the party. We love Christmas time, so this party was everything we enjoyed.

I'm also with jvarne in that I believe (90% certain) the parade is only at the party (during the first week of December - it runs every day later in the month), with the exception of the filming for the Christmas Day airing. The MVMCP wishes fireworks are also phenomenal FYI.

We've done MVMCP twice ('05 & '07) and would do it again. Both time we did it was the first week in Dec.

The Parade is my favorite of all the Disney parades. Lines for rides are a lot shorter. Characters in Holiday outfits. Rare characters making appearances. The Holiday show. Holiday Wishes.

If your a fan of the Christmas season then you'll love it. I put up a lot of Xmas decorations on our house for Xmas and I love the Christmas season.

I agree that everyone should go at least once. With that said, I have been to 4 MVMCPs since 2004. One was PACKED (early December) and miserably crowded. One had almost no crowds and the other two were so-so.

You CANNOT go there expecting low crowds and no lines. The time I went that was so horrible I waited 45 min in Tomorrowland just for a beverage. Main Street was all but impassable it was so crowded.

In 2010 Cosmic Rays was so crowded there was NO seating to be had. Main Street was again packed, but ride waits were 20-30 min.

I now aim for every 2-3 years. The hot cocoa is straight out of "just add hot water" mix and to me is NOTHING special at all and the cookies are pre-made, boxed variety. Not bad, but not "Boardwalk quality." For what Disney (now) charges for this event and for what perks they have taken away, I had hoped for better quality in what remained.....

I would definitely make plans to go! My suggestion is to not buy tickets until the week of. We bought tickets months in advance and it was coming a monsoon the night of the party. The castle skit was cancelled and all we did was try to stay covered all night! We have also been to MNSSHP when the weather was good and we had the time of our lives! The parties are definitely worth the money but just watch the weather!

We are doing it twice this trip. I wouldn't recommend that but I have reasons for it :-)

Then again, I'm a sucker for Christmas stuff.

The first week of December is usually the least crowded. That's when we usually go. We had a blast and were able to ride tons of ride with no wait at all. It was totally worth it.

When did you go last? It wasn't like that last year... Probably the longest lines I've seen during the first week of December in a long time. Can only hope for lighter crowds this year.

We've gone the last 2 years and will be back again in December :cool1:

The first year we went in November on the first night. It was really crowded until about 10p, then it really died down and we were able to walk on whatever we wanted.

Last year we went on December 15 and it was great. We were able to ride whatever we wanted with little to no wait.

We go for the rides, parade & fireworks. Characters are nice, but we don't wait in line for them.

It's my FAVORITE part of Christmas at Disney and I hope we continue to make it a yearly tradition :goodvibes

We have done the Christmas party 2x, one in 2010 and one in 2011.. we will do it again this November... if you are a Christmas person you will love it.. but I don't think it would be horrible to miss it... you will still get to experience the park decorated during the day.. the stuff you would miss is seeing the characters dressed up in their Christmas clothes, the Christmas parade, cookies/hot chocolate, Christmas music playing, stuff like that... not a deal breaker or maker, but fun all the same.

The Halloween party, IMO, would be a shame to miss if you ever go when those parties are scheduled..

Finally went to MVMCP in 2013 and LOVED IT!! We did the very first party on Nov 8th. The only place that was packed was Main Street. Other than that, the lines for rides were short and we got a great spot for the parade right by Liberty Treet Tavern where the Liberty Bell is. Afterwards we went to the front of the castle for the fireworks and light show and we were just blown away! It was WELL worth the money and glad that I can say that I experienced it, because it was the highlight of our week there! I am most likely going back again this year in November.

The hot cocoa was delicious! The lines for cocoa and cookies moved pretty quickly at Crystal Palace and other stations. A very kind CM working at the Crystal Palace station actually helped me and walked our stuff over to where we were waiting for the fireworks since I was by myself, she was SO nice.

My whole family (me included) hate parades. We've seen them all in WDW ... And still hate them. I try so hard to enjoy them, but I don't.

Until.... The Christmas Party! We are going again and we may watch it twice. Just that alone is worth it for us.
