We are going in December and was wondering if it is worth the money to go to the Christmas Party?

YES, YES, YES!!!

We have been to the party in 2003 and 2004. Each trip we went 2x! Many have posted that it was very crowded and not worth the extra money--we found the complete opposite. We were there the 1st/2nd week of December and the crowds were light and we definitely got our money's worth! Besides, when else does it snow on Main Street--and how often does Disney give out FREE cookies and hot chocolate--or anything else for that matter!! LOL

Hope you have a wonderful time!

Thanks! I was thinking my girls would love it and my mom that is 74 will be going. I think they will all be impressed, glad to know it is worth the extra $$. Do they still give a family photo or something I read somewhere?

Unfortunately, no. They no longer do the free souvenir photo. However, they did offer 50% off all Photopass photos taken at the party.

What time do the gates open for this MVMCP? If not till 7:00PM I doubt my grand daughter will last very long. She's only 4 and very active during the day.princess:

The party is held after the park closes for the day. It's held from 7:00p till Midnight.

We also attended MVMCP during the first week of December and had a great experience! I was surprised that my youngest, who was not yet two years old at the time, lasted until after 9 PM. Then she slept in the stroller while my other three who were 8, 7 and 4 made it until midnight!

Could you convince her to take a nap that afternoon so that she could stay up later that evening?

The party is advertised from 7-midnight, but they start letting you in at 4pm. We did the party in 2005 and 2006 and went in at 4pm both times. We loved it and thought it was worth the money. The fireworks are FANTASTIC!! We would do it again if we are lucky enough to go during that time again!

:santa: It is worth it!!!!! We have been two years in a row and very sad:guilty: that we are not going for the Christmas party this year.... We are doing the MNSSHP in October instead. But we truly love the Christmas party. This past December, our 4 year old stayed up for the entire thing. We caught the early parade in Front. land, then fireworks in front of the castle, then a show with Mickey. He smiled all night. His face was worth the extra money!!!!We also enjoyed the cookies and hot coco. Our 2 year old fell asleep in the stroller during the parade, but the three of us had a great time both years. Yes, it gets crowded around Main Street during the parades and the Mickey show filled up quick, but these are must sees.

We got to the park around three (used our park hopper to get in), got our bands around 4PM, grabbed a counter-service meal, then went on rides as the park closed.... NO or LITTLE LINES as the park changed over! Oh, and we took our Christmas card pic with Donald at his "Christmas tree lot" both years. It made a great card!!!!

I went in 2000 during the first week of Dec. I thought it was fun to do once, I don't know if I would spend the money to do it again. It was more crowded that evening than in the daytime.

I planned dinner at one of the restaurants on Main Street (buffet-latest seating) so that we could stay in the park when they opened the park to the crowd waiting at the gate. Unfortunately, my DSis had to have a cig. so we had to leave the park and enter with the rest of the crowd.

It was fun seeing all the lights and the special Christmas Show. Still have the photo.

Be aware that when you buy tickets for the party that entitles you to admission at 4pm, without having to use up a day on your pass.

I guess it depends who you ask and what their expectations are to determine if it is worth it. For our family, we love it! We have been going each year since 2004. We have a lot of fun and it helps us get into the holiday spirit.

We do have friends though that were not wowed by it (not sure what they were expecting). But going to the party was a financial stretch for them, so I think they had a different outlook on it-it seemed like they were preoccupied with trying to rationalize the expense and make sure they got their moneys worth and IMO that is what dampened their experience. Different strokes for different folks I suppose. Our family will definitely continue to go as long as they have it.

I think that I am definately going to get the tickets. If I don't, I will probably be kicking myself regretting it when we are there. I'll just have the kids relax that day so they can stay up and enjoy the party since its so late. Thanks for all the feedbacks, I really appreciate it!
