I haven't been to the world in more than 10 years, never with young kids and never to MVMCP. We're going in December and I'm wondering if MVMCP would be worth it to take my kids to.

Anyone have any experience to share taking preschoolers to this? Is it a "Must See" or a "Wait till they're older".

Thanks DIS'ers!

I've been wondering the same thing. We are going in Dec with our 5yo, 3yo and 6mo. Can't decide if we should spend the extra money on it.

I believe our youngest had just turned 4 when we did MVMCP for the first time. He slept in the stroller from about 9:00 on, but the rest of us kept on keeping on and had a great time! Been back every year since!

If I were you, I'd go for it!

We went to MVMCP on our trip on 2004. My kids were 7, 5 and 3. We had a great time. All of the kids stayed awake the entire time. We didn’t leave until the park closed. My 3-year-old loved it.

We were not planning on going. We waited until the day we were at the park to buy the tickets. This was on a trip with my in-laws and after following them around all day we decided to ditch them for the evening. This was the perfect excuse :) We stayed and they all went to the resort.

If they still sell the tickets at the park (I am not sure if they have to be purchased in advance) maybe you could see how well the kids are doing by early evening and then decided if you think they will enjoy a few more hours of Disney.

I've taken my DS twice once when he was 3 and then when he was 4. This year I'll be going with my neice(1) and nephew(2). It's a bunch of fun. The kids may not fully enjoy it but they'll love the parade. My son's favorite part is the end of the parade with santa.

We LOVE MVMCP BUT when my DS was three he was asleep at 7:30 EVERY night. The party starts at 7:00 or 7:30 and goes till midnight. There are a lot of fun and neat things you can not do during the day but many are shows and you have to time things well. The parade is wonderful but the first is really packed and the 2nd is late. We are so glad we did it but my ds was 11 when we were there at Christmas. At three it would not have been worth it to us. We did not do a park during the day when we would be at MVMCP so we were well rested. We did not do any ride during MVMCP though the lines were not to long but we wanted to do the special things. One last note ; the party though advertised at limit tickets was very crowded so consider that.

if you choose to do the party, try to get a PS for LTT around 6:00. food and characters are great and you will be inside the park when the party starts. You can get in the party at 4:00m with your ticket but you will have to go to adventure land while the park clears of day guest. Eating at LTT you willl not have to do this. As soon as the party starts head over to the Hall of President and get your free picture done before the crowds start!!!

Hope something here helps!!!

we went last year with our 3 (who had just turned 4 y.o). we had park tickets, so we paid about $300 EXTRA for that night for my family of 5 plus my inlaws. here are my thought on the night (cut and pasted from a previous thread):

anyone else disappointed w/MVMCP?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

we were there this past friday and i was so disappointed with the night! WDW was BEAUTIFUL all week long with xmas decorations and music, and even some of the holiday-themed parades. i was really feelin' the magic during the week, so i expected that friday night would be extra magical... as it turned out, the extra $300 for this 1 crazy-busy night seemed so not worth it! we were in a sold-out crowd and it was so HECTIC after a slow, lovely week.

...not to mention that i did NOT SEE SNOW on main street!!! i was unaware that it was only there at certain times of the night and we missed it completely

just wondering if anyone else had similar experiences?

thanks for the responses...

interesting to hear others' thoughts. i have heard on more than 1 ocassion that MNSSHP was better themed (or at least very different from reg. park decorations), and therefore perhaps a better value.

i think the cost of MVMCP is what gets me...i have always felt that i get such a GREAT deal when i spend money at Disney World (well, ok, perhaps i get a bit frantic at spending so much cash at the Poly!). there is SO much to do, and the attention to detail is amazing, and the CMs are wonderful. for this, however, i really felt like i wasted a huge chunk of money as the parks were already feeling so festive!

hope this helps others who will be attending other parties:

mistake #1: we got there early (5:30), but not early enough to beat the 6pm Wishes crowd, so Main Street was very crowded. my mil wanted to rent a scooter, but there were none available, so we had to wait near the front until others returned their scooters for the day.

lesson learned: should have gotten there by 5ish and rented a scooter from outside the park

mistake #2: by the time we made it back to catch the 7pm show of Twas the Night Before Xmas (6:40 or so), it was standing room only (not good with 3 four yr. olds!)

lesson learned: should have gotten back there early enough to get a seat, as this is really the only theatre entertainment at the party...we KNEW this was going to be busy

mistake #3: we then we decided to grab a "quick" counter service meal...that took about 20 mins. in line, plus another 20 mins. to eat

lesson learned: should have stuck with my original plan to eat BEFORE we left the hotel, and eat later in the evening, but the kids slept late and we thought that the sleep was more important

we then decided to head back to liberty square to line up for the parade.
mistake #4: we passed up some of the other entertainment to make sure we got over in time for the parade (character greetings, dance party), and we never had the chance to do these things later in the evening

lesson learned: enjoy the entertainment that is in front of you

it was still 3 or 4 people deep in line for the parade, but i didn't worry about that, i knew the kids would see enough of it from the back to enjoy it. i stood in the 15min. long line to get cookies and cocoa while the rest of the group waited for the parade. (that worked out GREAT..once i got the treats, it kept the kids busy to eat the snickerdoodle cookies while waiting for the parade).as it turned out, we had an INCREDIBLE group of people around us who continued to work with the rest of the crowd to get our kids (and others) up in front--truly, truly a beautiful thing to witness the holiday spirit around us...the adults next to us would call out who was coming next to my kids, so they would know who to look for (my kids would get all excited, everyone would enjoy the kids' excitement, etc...it was a blast!)

......
after waiting to see Wishes after we walked into the park, waiting to get down main street, waiting to get food, waiting to see the parade, waiting for the parade crowd to clear out, my kids were NOT interested in waiting for any other shows, parades, or fireworks. they wanted to ride!

we ended up doing rides in adventureland (little to no wait on rides), which was nice, but i knew we were missing the rest of the christmas stuff. after we hit the rides, the kids were cold and tired. i thought they'd make it to at least after the second parade, but my dh pointed out that trying to get out of the park with 3 cranky preschoolers with the thousands of others that would be leaving after the second parade would NOT be a pleasant end to a nice evening.

we ended up leaving 10 mins. before the 2nd parade began.
mistake #5 we did not end up being on main street at any time while there was snow!

lesson learned: we should have asked when snow would be falling (or even lingering on the ground!) when we got in the park. we asked a CM on our way out, and he said it would be after the parade...

i post all of this not to be a Grinch, because we really did have a very nice (although very crowded) time! i wanted to let others know of our experience because i thought it would be SO special that it would be worth the extra $300 ($350?) we spent on MVMCP tickets. on that evening, with my family, it was not worth it.

had i done things differently, i think i would have been more pleased with the event. i think the biggest thing for me would have been to get there earlier, both to avoid the crowds leaving, but also to find seats to see the night before xmas show and the castle show while my kids were still willing to sit and wait. and of course, i would have spent more time on main street to see that snow!!

hope this helps someone else have a magical evening!!

We've been to two "hard ticket event" parties w/ dd. She went to MVMCP when she was 17mo and MNSSHP when she was 28mo.

Both parties she "hung" until about 11 or 11:30pm...only falling asleep in her stroller as we were walking down Main Street on our way out of the park.

I DEFINITELY think that this is a must do.

We are going to be at WDW in early December and I purchased our MVMCP tickets the first day they were available. Dd is now 6yo and ds will be turning 2yo the day we attend. No better way to spend your birthday than partying w/ Mickey!

I need to add that we do NOTHING else that day. Sleep in late, hang at the pool (dd will do the pirate cruise pirate: at POR that morning) rest and relax. We have 3:30pm ADRs at Crystal Palace for our big meal and then we will pick up snacks or counter service later in the evening.

Both events that we attended w/ dd were truely magical, and I can't wait to go back now that dd is older... and ds will be going for the first time!
