MVMCP sold out

We went to the party tonight and it was sold out. Was pretty mobbed. I was hoping most left after the fireworks but that was a no go. Most started venturing back into the park with many running to the new coaster. We stayed until 1130 and was surprised to see just as many watching the second parade as the first.

I'm so nervous that our sold out party on the 18th is gonna be a mob scene. All I want is to be able to see the parade and fireworks without some obnoxious family pushing me out of the way

We were at a sold out MNNSHP in September and I really didn't think it was that terrible. It's all about perspective though. If you are use to less crowded parks, you might feel overwhelmed by the party crowds. We are use to very crowded parks so party nights never seem that bad to us.

We have never gone at this time of year. We have been to wdw for Easter and in July/August. Is it much worse than those?

We have been to the MNSSHPs for years. Only recently have the ones in late September, early October been sold out for us. I've been to WDW mostly in those months and May. It didn't seem as bad last night as it was for a sold out Halloween party. We just noticed longer lines on some rides and no one leaving. Never have I seen the enormous mass of people turn and head back into the park after fireworks. Was surprising.

Last December, the MVMCP we went to was sold out, it was not fun. We had rude people during the parade push forward at the last minute trying to get in front of us. It's very frustrating, when you've been waiting for an hour and that happens. The whole thing left me with a horrible memory that I really don't want to try to watch the parade again. But my DH & DD want to, so not sure what I'm going to do yet when we go Sunday. I am hoping this year won't be as bad.

TSME last night we got seats an hour before the parade in frontier land. We sat down on the ground in our spots and had no issues. We made sure to keep seated once the parade started too. Nothing worse then standing behind seated people thinking you will see the parade then them standing up as it starts and you see nothing. lol. Everyone around us were fine. No issues. I did let a little girl squeeze in next to me to see. She was adorable and was so fun watching her get so excited over the characters.

If these parties continue to sell out like this, I am sure Disney will start creating night parties for EVERY time of the year.

Good questions. We likely won't ever know. And another question is...Is "Sold Out" in 2015 the same thing as "Sold Out" in 2010? For those who say: "We have been there on Sold Out nights in the past and it wasn't that bad", consider that maybe they only sold 15,000 tickets back then, and maybe they sell 30,000 now. I don't know. But I am sure that they can "up" the ticket count at will.

Not sure. The event sold out sign was up by noon when we were there. I was shocked. The park was mobbed but we had a great time.

Not 100% sure but sold out is usually 1/4 of actual capacity. I have been to sold out events and didn't find them too overwhelming. I think the problem is that in years past with everything being the same offerings people did rush to head line attractions during the party. They would watch the parade, go to dance parties, and enjoy the party festivities. Now people are buying the tickets juts to get in rides and couldn't care less about the fireworks, the cookies, the parade, etc.

They've already tried that -- remember "Pirates and Princesses" nights? Didn't go over too well, and didn't last long.

That's pretty scary to me and Disney probably "sees" that too and will want to continue to profit from that.

If Disney see that people are willing to pay extra (a lot extra) for a night of "low capacity" just to go on rides with short lines (and could care less about the special stuff), I definitely see them continuing to raise ticket prices or having "parties" all year long (which essentially are "paid" EMH).

Come on .. how many would pay extra for a "Indepencence party" a few times a week in July so you could have a 1/4 capacity filled park all night during the peak summer hours? They probably wouldn't even need to do anything special .. some may simply be willing to pay for guaranteed reduced capacity.

True that is what is going to happen but I know people who keep saying they think the higher prices will drive people to the lower season so they will pay they higher price expecting more manageable crowds.

At our sold out party, we had a hard time moving anywhere in the park, not just the typical clogged spots on busy days. There is no way it is only 25% of actual capacity.

I wonder if there are any CMs on the board who would be willing to give up the information. I know at EPCOT during morning meeting and then if you read the daily board in our attraction office you would see the forecast numbers for the day. I have to imagine they give MK CMs the same information and that they know what roughly a sold out party is compared to a non-sold out.
