Planning our first trip! And I am so excited to get to go (for one) and to have an opportunity to see mvmcp!! (hope those are the right innitials for Mickeys Christmas Party) Just wondering, how crowded is it? I read in UG that a good time to ride the attractions was during the first parade. Are the lines less crowded? Seems like everyone would go to mvmcp so it would be harder than normal to get around and ride rides. Is the parade as amazing as I have heard. For those of you who have been to the party, would you do it again? Do you do it every visit in late nov. early dec.? We haven't been to disney before, so I guess we really don't know what to expect. Although I have read UG, Birnbraums, TGM, this board, and any thing else "disney-related" that I come across.

I would do MVMCP again!! ::yes:: As a matter of fact we usually do 2 of the MVMCPs every time we go. There is so much to see we want to enjoy every second we are there. Our DD5 had a blast when we went this past Dec. The shows are entertaining the rides are not crowded and the hot coco and cookies adds a magical touch to the whole party atmosphere.

Since you are going early Dec., the parks are not really that crowded. This is the time we go for the holiday season. Most of the rides are walk on with no fast pass needed during the day time.

If you have not decided on what hotel to stay at, I would suggest the Wilderness Lodge. It is something to see during the holiday season.

Have fun planning and good luck :thumbsup2

Disney caps the number of tickets sold to the parties, but no one knows what that number is. We did MNSSHP 2 years ago on Columbus Day weekend. The party was sold out and we were kinda dissapointed. It seemed VERY crowded to us. Then last Christmas we did MVMCP on the last night it was offered. It was also sold out, but the crowds seemed MUCH more manageable this time. Why the difference??? I have to say, YES, ride the rides you really don't want to miss during the first parade. And for BOTH parties we attended, the crowds thinned out dramatically at about 10p.m. when folks with little kids headed out. Ours are old enough to stay up all night, so we closed the place down both times and that last hour or so was the best!!! I would do both parties again. :thumbsup2

We have been to MVMCP 5 out of the last 6 years. It is well worth the extra admission cost. Even if the event is sold out for the night you choose, it is still not as crowded as a regular MK day. And going in early Dec is absolutely the best time. Take time to enjoy all the decorations. Each resort has it's own tree and gingerbread house (the big one at the Grand Floridian is wonderful). We also bring along a tiny tree for our room. Also, be sure to take advantage of the free family photo offered during the party. You'll get one copy for each person in your party, and they mail them to your home. About the Christmas parade, it is definitely not to be missed, although the electric light parade is still my favorite. We usually do our photo first thing (while the kids are fresh) and stay for the last parade. We always work our way to the entrance end of Main St. and watch from there so that we aren't fighting the crowds to leave. If you have small children, try staying at a MK resort. You'll probably spend most of your time there anyway, and it's great to be able to take a direct monorail or boat to the MK. Hope this helps. :wave2:

I can't wait! I am planning on going to both MNSSHP and MVMCP this year!

Does anyone know when the tickets for mvmcp will go on sale? Can you purchase them online or do you have to call to order them in advance?

Last year it was the end of April so I'm guessing it will be the same this year.

You will be able to purchase them online but they go onsale over the phone first. Online becomes available a couple of weeks later.

Typically, how late does the park stay open during MVMCP

It runs from 7:00p to Midnight.
