We're heading to the party on Dec 13 and I cannot wait! Planning a Disney vacation is one of my favorite things, but trying to figure out a plan for the party is overwhelming. I definitely need some help!
Our plan is to tour the monorail resorts earlier and head to the park around 4. Hopefully I'll be able to get some fast passes for 3:30-6:30.
Here's what we definitely want to do at the party:
7 Dwarfs
Jack Skellington
parade
Wishes

If we can, we'd like to do:
Aladdin characters

We have an ADR for Minnie's dinner at H&V the next day so seeing the characters that will also be there isn't as important at the party.

Can anyone suggest a plan and also let me know if there is something else you feel like we shouldn't miss at the party? Thanks in advance for your opinions and help!

My first suggestion is to not go on that day, since there isn't a party on December 14. ;)

My other recommendation is to line up for either Jack or the Dwarfs well before the party starts--both lines are usually very long, best to be spending that time before the party even starts.

The character lines are madness so I agree with lining up early. We aren't big on the rides during the party though we will occasionally hit a few if things are slow. Love the parade and fireworks.

Thanks. Is it better to line up for one of them before the other or does it not really matter?

You need to pick one...........you've chosen the 2 most popular party M&G's. Can you do both........sure.........but you'll miss a bunch of the other stuff going on. At last years MNSSHP we got in line for the Dwarfs at 5:30pm we were like 7th in line...........we were done by 7:20. If we had then gone to Jack and Sally...........would have missed a bunch of stuff just based on the time spent in line.

Doug :goofy:

do character lines get shorter later in the night? if OP lined up in advance for the dwarves, for example, met them at the start of the party, and then swung back to see jack skellington near the end of the night (I think the parties run until midnight, so maybe around 11:30?), would they find a shorter line?

Reports are that Jack and Sally's line gets cut early, somewhere between 10:30p and 11:00p.

thanks for the info--I really don't know much about the party nights, and were still trying to decide if we'll buy tickets. where do you find those reports? could the OP do the reverse (line up early for jack and sally, go see the dwarves near the end of the night), or are the character lines in general shut down early?

Here on the DIS, there's a big "official" MNSSHP thread where you can find them if you have the time. Most lines are not cut off early, but the longest ones--like both cited here--can be.

Last year we got in line for the Dwarves mid-party - I think about 8:30 and waited 45 minutes. We did watch Wishes from the line, but it was a decent view. The line moves fairly quickly because there is no "Meet and Greet" with them - it is just snap a couple pictures and move on.
