Hi everyone! This is only my second post so I'm a bit of a stranger, and not much of a message board person to be honest. But I read these boards a lot and have gotten a lot of great information and tips!

In November (17-23) I'm making my 5th trip to Disney World, but this is my first time going that time of year. We are planning on going to MVMCP. Right now we're thinking about going on the 20th, and our plan is to go to Hollywood Studios since it closes at 4 (and we are hopeful for a small crowd because of the shorter hours), grabbing dinner and the hitting the party (we have park hoppers). But I'm wondering if this might mean we'll be at a busier party because others might have the same idea? Honestly it's not a big deal to our group anyway, since we don't really care about crowds and from my understanding we're going at a relatively quiet time of year, but all the same it's something you'd like to avoid where possible. Any advice would be great!

Thanks! :)

I bought tickets for the same date!

I honestly don't believe it'll be crowded, the chances of this party sell out is pretty slim. You're looking at a Thursday in one of the slowest week of the year, locals prefer Fridays for the party, since it's not a school night. Not every resort guest will attend MVMCP either.

Do take a look at easyWDW crowd calendar to see what he says about DHS on that particular day. He absolutely recommends hitting MK on party nights because people usually flock away from the short hours so DHS will probably be affected and pull in more crowds.

My thinking on this is that-

A- IF enough savvy guests know to look at MK hours in advance, and decide not to go to MK on a MVMCP day due to the short hours
so that makes MK a "light attendance day…"

B- Those same savvy guests should know enough to look at DHS hours in advance and decide not to go on an DHS on Nov. 20, due to the short hours,
so DHS would tend to be a "light attendance day" too.

(Just factoring apples to apples.)

Thanks for the replies!

I think we are going to go for the tickets for the 20th! If the party is one the busier ones, so be it. I'm not the type to stress over that sort of thing anyway! I'm really just excited to get to go at all!

As for Hollywood Studios, that's really just our tentative plan. We'll probably stick to it and if HS happens to be more crowded than we'd like, we'll hop on over to somewhere else! But like you said, it is one of the slowest weeks of the year (if such a thing still exists at WDW) so I imagine it will be a non-issue anyway!

Welcome! I think it is a decent plan, if you think that is enough time for you at DHS. Also do you have another night planned to see the Osborne lights at DHS, you don't want to miss those! I think they will be going during your trip because I saw somewhere that the start date this year is supposed to be November 7- although I have no clue if that is accurate. With it being Osborne lights time of the year and DHS closing at 4, with no Osborne lights that day, you can bet it will be a low crowd day at DHS. Last fall we did DHS on a day that it closed early due to a private party and hit the Halloween party that night, and it worked out well for us.

I will say though that we have done MK on MVMCP days several times and we do find that those are low crowd days, especially in the morning hours. The crowd picks up starting at 4:00 when people can get in with the party ticket. It can be a little crowded between 5-7, with partygoers coming in, and the regular guests not being herded out yet, but usually we are getting in line for one of the most popular MVMCP characters at 6:00 p.m. anyway, so we don't really feel the crowd. The only bad thing when we do MK on a MVMCP day, is that usually if we do DHS or AK we will stop off at the room and put on some Christmas clothes on the way to the party. If we do MK, we always say we will go back and change, but we never want to leave the park, so we usually just wind up staying.

Yes, we are planning on taking in the osbourne lights and Fantasmic on another night! :)
