MVMCP--Non-Paying Guests

Heck, I couldn't even GET to the rides I wanted to get to much of the time because of roped off areas at least two times during the party. (and, yes, I had a wrist band) Too much of a crowd to have to walk around the front of the castle to move from area to another. Killed the party for me.

I won't be back for this "Party" in the future. Too crowded and too many rope barriers ... Destroyed the magic.

But love the Magic Kingdom otherwise. Just not during party time.

Being asked to show your wrtistband constantly does sound very annoying.

When we were at the MNSSHP we were asked repeatedly to show our wristbands. Then, on Dec 7 we were at the MVMCP and had to show our wristbands constantly. It was never annoying, in fact I always thanked the CM for checking!!! They seemed to do a good job clearing the park, starting around 6:30ish. A lot of people started leaving by 6, in order to avoid the huge swell of people going to the buses.
Yes, the park was crowded, with legitimate party goers. Would I go again? Not sure. I love the atmosphere during the party but it does get jammed up in certain areas.
But, they were constantly checking wristbands when we were there.

I was at the sold out party last night. It was not too bad crowd-wise. And yes, they do check for wristbands-a lot. In fact, I went to Toontown first thing (to get those characters first without long lines. I got through all 3 lines, with all the characters, in about an hour) and they would not let anyone through without checking for wristbands.

On 12/5 I was asked to see my wristband on Mainstreet. I was walking towards the castle to see the stage show. On 12/8, they had CM's stationed at each of the lands asking to see wristbands.

We were at the MK back around 11/13 (don't have a calendar in front of me, anyway it was a Monday). I noticed the park closed at 7, but it truly didn't occur to me that MVMCP would start on such an early date. At 7, we were on Main St. making our way out, and I tried to stop in a gift shop. Many years ago, I worked at Kings Dominion, and our "International Street" was always open for at least an hour after the regular park closing. So, still not realizing it was MVMCP, I figured I had an hour to shop.
WOW!!! They would not let me in a gift shop. They explained it was MVMCP, and if you didn't have a wristband, you could not even shop. I would have planned my shopping earlier had I known. I was a little disappointed. I knew this was our only day at the MK, and its' my favorite place to shop out of all the parks, including Downtown Disney. So, this hopefully reassures all the hard ticket holders that they were taking this very seriously.

We were at MVMCP on 12/5, and never, NEVER get asked for show my wristband. Actually I hide mine inside my jacket just to see if somebody ask me, but never happened.

I do the exact same thing, with the same results. Of all the parties and events after hours that I have attended over the years, very rarely do I see a consistent attempt at checking armbands, and I think this is a real shame.

At MNSSHP this year, there was a CM in Tomorrowland checking for wristbands, but when someone didn't have one she would tell them that it was okay but that they needed to go get an armband afterwards. This is just beyond ridiculous, IMHO. Why do the rest of us have to pay when all these other people cheat and get it for free?

I think I have been misunderstood. I AM going to pay for the tickets, and one of the main benefits I hope to get for my money is that there will be fewer crowds for the parade and entertainment. I am a RULE-FOLLOWER!

We were there last year and were never asked if we had a wristband. I hope we dont get asked too much this year. It will probably drive me crazy although I am glad they are monitoring it.

It was quite different this year. I think because they didn't close for an hour, they had a new procedure in place with A LOT more CMs around the park to clear it out.

I went last year and this year and it was VERY different. I also was never asked about my writstband last year but certainly was this year.

I was very glad.

We were at the MVMCP on 12/11 and we were asked in several locations to show our bracelets.

We arrived at MK last night around 5:30. We planned to view the 6 p.m. fireworks and leave.
They were still allowing guests in with PH and APs. (I did see a CM turned away who was trying to get her guests in. I think the entry CM was figuring why would anyone waste an entry if they could only stay just over an hour, and she had already turned in the tickets for the day that are given to Cast with guests.)
We had no problem getting in, and no one checked us for wristbands. But we left probably around 6:45, as soon as the rain stopped. During the rain it was chaotic.
There are CMs who do nothing but watch guests specifically for wristbands during hard ticket events.

We were there on 12/11 and had to constantly show our wristbands. We just held up our arms as we passed by the cm's and were never annoyed by it. It made me feel better knowing they were checking. We were able to walk right on (almost-except Space Mountain) all the rides that night and it was well worth the price of the ticket just to do that.

Here is the problem that I see with Disney kicking out the “Day Guest” at the Magic Kingdom, while I would agree that the “Day Guest” Should leave when the park closes but what I don’t like is that Disney does not have Holiday Entertainment for guest that come into the Magic Kingdom during the normal day operating hours, I mean they don’t have the Christmas parade at 3 pm nor do they have the Holiday Wishes at night before the closing time. This year Disney extended the Mickey Very Merry Christmas parties up until Dec 22, so the only way to see most Holiday Entrainment at the Magic Kingdom park is to pay extra $$$ for tickets for MVMCP (which may or may not be available) or you can come during the most crowed and busiest time of the year at Christmas/New Years week Dec 24 to Jan 2.

The nest thing Disney might do is to take the Candlelight show away for Day Guests at Epcot or the Osborne Christmas lights at Disney/Mgm Studios and make everyone pay the extra $$$ a night to see these events as well.

In the past Disney when they had what they called a Mix-In, (which is what the do now with MVMCP) they allowed those guest that were in the Park (And everyone pays weather its at Night or in the Day) to stay, they would just not let anyone into the park after the Posted Day Closing time. The other thing the guest going to MVMCP are allowed into the park (at 4 pm) during the time which Day guest paid to be there, maybe guests attending MVMCP shouldn’t be let into the Magic Kingdom until the start of MVMCP.

DW and I attended the party 12/5, and had several encounters with the wristbands. I wanted to get our party shirts right away as soon as the party started,, we were asked to show the wristbands before the purchase. Also trying to purchase the evening pin for the party, asked to see the wristband again. While waiting for the parade, we were standing around the circle at the castle, we viewed several guests being asked to leave, they did not have the wristbands, so they were removed from the park.

I think the CM's were doing their jobs that night.

This poster must have misunderstood my post. I didn't say anything about showing wristbands. What I was commenting on was the rope barriers that blocked enterance to the Fantasland section of the park, making it necessary to walk around the castle in crowded conditions to move from, say, Tomorrowland to the Haunted Mansion.

Just seemed to kill the magic for me.

But still love the Magic Kingdom, just not during a "party."

We went on the 5th Dec and were asked about 3-4 times in general to show the band and of course before every ride line.

If truth be told I found it all to be fun and ended up just raising my arm before getting to any cast member whom I thought was going to ask Made me feel I was part of some exclusive club, lol

I was at one of the Halloween parties at the end of Sept. (it was the last Friday of Sept). We were not asked once to show our wristbands. Nowhere. I did see a few people asked to leave, but that was it. And it was very crowded that night, so much so that I decided then & there to never do one of these events again.
