We will be attending MVMCP on November 29th with dinner beforehand at Chef Mickey's at 5:15pm. We are staying at All Star Movies and would like to drive to the Contemporary for dinner and then leave the car there and take the monorail to the MK for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. But we will have to move the car to the MK parking lot won't we or have our car towed. They are still limiting guests to 3 hours of parking aren't they?

You'd probably be better off parking at the TTC, taking the resort monorail to the CR and then walk or monorail over to MVMCP.

Back in 1998 my friend did just that and had a long lonely walk back to her car after MVMCP was over. The trams to the parking lot were not running that late at night. It sounds like we would just be better off taking bus to MK from Movies and then monorail over to the Contemporary for dinner then monorail back to MK for the party. :(

Yake the bus from All Stars to the MK and walk to the Contemporary--t's only a five minute walk. Then, walk back to the MK, and after the VMCP take the bus back to the All Stars. Very simple.

ANd yes, theya re enforcing the three hour rule. Your other choice would be to park at the TTC, they will be still running the trams until an hour after the VMCP ends.

Another thing to think about is - if people keep their cars at a MK hotel (contemp, poly, etc) during the MVMCP then people staying at those hotels will have no place to park.
This happened to us last year staying at the poly- most nights we had no problem parking, but on the nights of the VMCP we had to park so far away from our room we were just about back at the guard station. Obviously they were not enforcing the 3-hour rule at this time, even though the rule was in place.

I agree with the last poster. We stayed at the Contemporary last December and couldn't find parking on MVMCP and we actually saw people park, put their Santa Mickey Hats on and walk over to the MK.

Very annoying for those who pay big bucks to stay there and then can't park.

You should park at MK parking and then use the monorail or walk to MK after dinner.

From what I have read on these boards and from what CM's working at WDW have said to me on the phone, the resorts are nowhere near 100% occupancy and should have plenty of parking spaces for those who dine at the resort and then monorail over to the MK to attend MVMCP. That is the only reason I was considering this. I would never just simply park at the Contemp and not even patronize the restaurants. I just think it is ridiculous to park at the Contemp for dinner and then have to move the car to the MK Parking lot. With the cutbacks can you guarantee that there will be a tram to take me back to the car? In 1998 my friend had to walk across an empty lonely parking lot by herself after MVMCP because there wasn't a tram running at midnight.

I have paid to stay at many Disney resorts including the deluxes and have never rented a car and taken up a parking space before. We always used a towncar service or Mears. I realize this doesn't give me rights to use the parking lot in the future but I wonder what percentage of guests actually have a car at their resort. We will take the bus to the MK and then monorail or walk to the Contemp. No sense in angering those who pay the "big bucks", no big deal. We are lucky to even be going on this trip with the current economic situation. As it is we had to cancel our Contemp ressies and downgraded to All Stars. But we are still going and happy about it! :) It was just a thought that maybe with low attendance at the parks and the low occupancy at the resorts it might be possible to park at the monorail resorts for 6 hours instead of 3 hours (since 4 of us are dining there for the evening) without taking away parking places for the guests.
