MVMCP is it really worth it?

I have no doubt that MVMCP is a wonderful event, but is it really worth the $160.00 (or perhaps a little more for next year when we will be there) that it will cost us (my wife and two kids, one who will be 10 so we will have to pay an adult price for him)?
I would appreciate any comments about this event, and why you think it either is worth the price, or isn't worth the price. I don't want to sound cheap, but that really is a lot of money for one event.

For me it isnt worth the money. It really depends on when you would visit WDW? I am sure it is very worth the money if it is right before Christmas, the parks are loaded and it would be nice to do the rides with shorter lines.

We go the 2nd week in December when the lines are short to begin with. The lines were actually shorter for MOST rides during the day before the party than they were at the party.

We went last year with our DDs who were 2 and 4. It was a nice time, but we're not going again this year. We enjoyed the shows and parade, but didn't think they were significantly better than the regular shows and parades. I was also disappointed with the fireworks. I'm a HUGE Wishes fan, so I had high expectations. They were good, but I think Wishes is much better. We'll go again sometime, but not this year. So, if you are concerned about the extra money, I'd skip it and spend it on something else. Just my two cents. Good luck with your decision.

It all depends on if you think it is worth the extra money to get the special holiday experience of attending the party. I for one have no desire to deal with the Christmas holiday crowds during Christmas week in order to see the Christmas Parade so I prefer to attend the party where presumably there is less of a crowd. If you don't intend to stay for the entire 5 hours of the party it definitely isn't worth spending the money in my opinion.

I only attended MVMCP one year but went to two parties. In my opinion I enjoy the MNSSHP more. I don't understand why they charge more for MVMCP that MNSSHP. At MNSSHP they have many Candy Stations where they give you lots of candy. At MVMCP the have a few places where you go to get Hot Cocoa & Sugar Cookies, a choice of cookies would be preferable like maybe chocolate chip or shortbread. Both have a special show, a special parade, special fireworks and the characters dressed for the holidays. Other than either candy or Cookies & Cocoa there is no overall difference between the two that warrants the difference in price of admission in my opinion. It may be more of a staffing cost issue. Of course if they keep raising the prices & taking away things such as the free photo I may stop going myself. We are attending this years first MVMCP but will not get to do MNSSHP this year. I do usually try to attend two parties so that I don't feel rushed to fit everything in in 5 hours. But it is easier to get to do everything at MVMCP than MNSSHP.

I personally think it's worth it. Now, let me say that I'm a tightwad. I dont like to spend money (well my wife doesn't but I'll include myself in that). Each person likes different things but I love MVMCP. I dont personally care much for MNSSHP however.

Let me say this.

If you love the Christmas season, you'll like MVMCP as it's an incredible throw into the season. However, if you're not a big Christmas person and want to go just for the rides and extra time, it's not worth your money.

What I love about MVMCP, the shows, the decorations, the music, the parade, the special fireworks (all to Christmas music), the snow on Main St, the carolers, the christmas tree, the hot cocoa and cookies, all of which are Christmas related things. So if it was just about the rides, I dont think it would be worth it.

I would venture to assume that it's due to demand. While everyone likes something different, I think the MVMCP is probably a higher demand than MNSSHP, and then you figure that it is a busier time at WDW (later at least) than in October, and it's a simple supply vs. demand situation.

One of the things I was wondering about was whether or not MVMCP was much better than the regular parades and Wishes show. (Thank you to the poster who mentioned that they didn't see that much of a differnce)
I do love Christmas, and I can't wait to fill up on all that Disney has to offer for the Holidays (we will be there the first week of Dec. 2007). But I just don't think that I want to try and justify spending that much money for one single event.
But, I am still open to the possibility. So if anyone else has anything else to offer, feel free.
