MVMCP advice please?

I've never been to a MVMCP before, & we're planning to go to a few this year (weekend & weekday) in December. Do you have any advice for photos with the characters, especially Santa, Santa Goofy, 7 Dwarfs, Jack Sparrow, Genie, & Bert with the penguin? How long are their lines normally? Is it like SWW for Chewbacca or Darth Vader where you are in line for an hour +? I'm not sure if we should plan on being in line right at 4-5. Is it better to get pictures during the weekday parties?

For the Dwarfs, get in line before the party officially starts. Although, IMHO, 4-5 is too early. The line gets long very quickly. Expect a larger crowd on the weekend. We did a Friday in 2012 and it was very crowded.

You can get pictures with Santa during normal park hours so I would do that instead of during MVMCP. Like the PP mentioned the Dwarfs gets crowded fast and stays crowded all night, so if they are a priority head there first about 5:30.

This is my first party. I'm picking my top 3 characters I want to meet and anything else will just be a bonus. I was getting to stressed trying to figure out how to see all these characters and do the party events, see the parade/fireworks. I am planning the 7 dwarfs so I will be getting in line 5:30/6 for them.
