We are going the week before Thanksgiving, and so far my plan is MK, HS, AK, EP, off day, MK. On our off day (Thursday) I was planning to do the MVMCP. Both of our MK days are party days, so we will be out of the parks by 7 and missing any nighttime entertainment. I hear the party is great, but my daughter is scared of fireworks (we are working on helping her get through that) and my kids are not used to late nights, so I am just not sure it is worth the money. My alternate plan would be to do a tour of resorts and Christmas decorations that evening and watching the party Fireworks from one of the monorail resorts before heading back to our townhouse.

I am really trying to find a balance between getting as much as we can done, but not absolutely running my kids (and my parents) ragged so that they won't enjoy our vacation. So are we missing out on something major if we skip the party?

I went to MVMCP for the first time last year, and really enjoyed it. Some of the highlights for me were the character meet and greets which are unique to the parties. If there weren't so many other things I wanted to see and do, I easily could have spent most of the night meeting characters. Other things I loved about the party were the parade, the fireworks, and the hot cocoa and cookies. I know you said your daughter is scared of fireworks, so there are other things to do so she misses the fireworks including dance parties or rides (most wait times are very low). It's definitely a unique experience. I don't have children so I can't give you much advice as to that, but I'm sure others can.

I've done MVMCP twice. The first time I had a great time - seeing snow on Main Street was a treat. The cookies seemed pretty tasty and we, overall, had a great time.

The second time, I was less impressed. The quality of the cookies had definitely gone down. Their taste was reminiscent of lemon floor cleaner. We were also excited about the Jingle Cruise, but it just wasn't as fun.

I think that if you are using this to supplement a day at MK, it could be fun. But on it's own, it's less of a must do.

We're going the same week and have decided NOT to do it. Too much money for not enough benefit.
The only things I was interested in were Santa pics with the kids (we'll see him in DTD instead ) and the snow on main street. I have a 630p ADR; I figured we can see the snow as we're escorted out of the park after dinner. :)

Thanks for the input! It is hard, as much as I want to do it, I worry if we try to stay up late, my kids will take two days to catch back up. But- if we do it and leave early, not sure we'll get our money's worth.

I would vote "no". It IS a neat event, but IMHO it is not worth the price. I have been 4 times and two of those times it was PACKED and just miserably crowded.

To be perfectly honest, my husband and I did the party once, but did not feel it was worth the money. The parade was nice and no waits on any rides was a bonus, but we decided we"d rather spend the money on a nice meal or a tour.

There is a lot that goes on during the parties aside from the fireworks that the kids/parents could like!

-Special parade
-Special stage show in both the castle stage & tomorrowland
-princes & other special characters out
-Hot chocolate & cookie stops around the parks
-Snow on main street

However if you feel like your kids don't do well with late nights, then I'd just say skip it for this year! We honestly only go to for the special characters (halloween is much more our time!) but that is worth it for us!

I also really like the idea of doing a monorail tour of the christmas decorations, maybe have a nice relaxing dinner in there somewhere too? You could easily instead of spending money on party tickets, spend that money on dinner at say, 1900 pf, Ohana, go see the SoA show?

Thanks again all- as fun as the party sounds, I don't think it is a necessity for our trip this year. We'll save it until the kiddos are a bit older. :)

This is exactly what I am planning to do! I think it will be a fun night and we will still get the Christmas spirit.
