Musty Room Smell

I have read in various posts on this board about a musty, damp smell in some resorts and rooms. I came across this tip on another message board and thought I would share it with all of you.

To help get rid of/cut down on the musty odor, before you go on vacation, buy and pack a Glade Plug-In! I imagine it is easy to find a spare electrical outlet to plug it in. I only wonder if it would help get rid of the smell of smoke for those who don't smoke and get stuck in a smoking room.

Wish I had come across that tip for previous trips to the Caribbean!

Would love to hear back from someone who tries this to see if it really worked.

That's an excellent idea. You should post this also on the Disney Tips Board, if already haven't. :)

This happened to me once. It hit me as soon as I entered the room. I called the front desk and they moved me to another room and had housekeeping go back to that room to check it out. They were very nice about it and the second room was great.

Get the one that neutralizes oders . It works great on the smoke smell. I should know I use it in my home and am a smoker. It does a great job. Even had non smokers come into my home and have commented on the fact that they can't smell that smoker smell.

Problem was the musty smell was coming from the T.V and drawer unit in the room. So unless they removed that, it's useless. They were very good the first 2 days of spraying and deodorizing the room, then they seemed to forget the rest of our trip......oh well, nothing ruins my Disney vacation....We would open our door at night and get fresh air and listen to the sounds of the Boardwalk.

...we have (thank goodness!!) never personally experienced this, I think it is a good idea to pack along an air freshener just in case. (you can always bring it home again!!) Besides, after my DH is finished using the bathroom, we usually have to evacuate the premises (LOL)!! Also, depending upon the resort you are staying at, you can "coordinate" the proper scent (a woodsy, pine scent for WL, "Hawaiian, fruity, tropical" scents for CBR, a floral-type scent for POR-Riverside, etc) to help get you in the "mood" of the resort!!:D (I'm surprised that WDW hasn't thought of this already!!!!)

They do spray the rooms with an airfeshiner at the Poly and CR. (Where this smell seems to be most previlent due to the age of the bulding and construction technique).
