Going on our 10th trip next summer and my brother and his family coming to my 6 year old nieces will be with us. As our son is 12 you can imagine that we haven't really done any girly things on all our trips so wondering what are the must do's with girls of that age. We are there for 3 weeks again so plenty of time. We are staying at Wyndham Bonnet Creek so not on DP but we will of course do some character meals. However not sure I can bring myself to pay over $70 for Cinderella's Royal Table!

Six-years-old is a wonderful age to go to Disney. They are old enough to comprehend and remember all that is going on.

When we took my DD at that age she was REALLY into the princesses so we went to the Princess breakfast in Epcot. She was over-the-moon excited. My husband and I completely enjoyed watching her interact with her 'heroes'.

There are also other character meals all over WDW. No matter who your niece likes there is a character meal for her.

I agree 6 is a great age - DD is 6 and we had a great trip recently.

She enjoyed bibbidi bobbidi boutique and the mermaid makeover at the pirates league.

She wasn't too bothered by princess stuff - not sure if her age or the fact she had been there done that.

She also enjoyed the wonderland tea party at the grand floridian with alice and the mad hatter (no parents allowed)

In the parks she loved the interactive sorcerers in MK and Agent P at Epcot - did them all.

Ride wise DD is tall so went on everything she fancied - first time she has wanted to go on everest, rock n roller coaster etc.

New fantasyland - ariel ride and belle attraction were good for her.

Will be doing a trip report in due course.

fab age my dd was 5 when we went last year she loved in Epcot the Askerhaus princess meal and Happily ever after ball at Grand floridian food was gorgeous. We did the Cinderella Royal Table but thought the characters were better at the others although I would do again just because your eating in cinderellas castle!!! If it was me going now the new Fantasyland is open I would definatly be spending all my time in there. Try the new Be our Guest restaurant but book early.

Royal Table is EXPENSIVE and I really don't blame you for feeling that the price is too high - BUT.... I succumbed to the pressure of a wife and daughter who desperately wanted to go and I have to be honest, it's worth every cent. The food is incredible (that pleases the adults!) and the girls will get to spend a good amount of time with each princess. The way it works is really neat and it's definitely a memory maker.

I don't want to ruin it (in case you decide to do it) but our daughter (who had just turned 8) was in complete awe of the whole thing. She constantly had a princess to see and she truly felt like a princess. The photo you get as part of the deal is great too. The girls would get a lot from it if your budget will stretch to it.

Other options are 1900 Park Fare, which we did in 2008. Our daughters really enjoyed that too.

Do it!!:) :)

We did an 8.10am breakfast with our DD6, and nieces 3.5 and 1 YO and other family members. Besides getting some great photos of the kids in front of the castle in an almost empty Main Street, we all really enjoyed the character meal.

Just seeing their faces alone was well worth the money - which to be honest we had sort of forgotten about as we paid 6 months earlier! Food was lovely, and plenty of it :) For me the highlight was being inside the Castle, it was every bit as good as I imagined. The added bonus is the kids having a chat and photo's with 5 princesses in one go - plus for the cost you also get a photo package included. I'm glad we did it this trip as I think next time we visit the girls may be too old for princesses.
