I was just playing around and went to the DCL site and checked on the May repositioning cruise - You could get CAT 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 for a family of 4 (if you want to pay the price). I really feel sorry for all the people who had to pay the higher prices after the first day when the prices were driven up and now all those people cancelled. I guess it won't be as full a ship as Disney anticipated.

Wow... I wish i can go but i have to go to school :sad2: ......

It is a shame that the frenzy on the first day drove the prices up....but I still think there will be some last minute purchases.....I know they offer rates to CM's though I don't know how many would be able to take 2 weeks off....I still think it will sail close to full.

I understand wanting to be "in" on the latest and greatest Disney thing, but I think the idea of booking cruises just to hold a spot to see if you might like to consider going at some point in the future based on whether or not the sun is in the right position and the wind is blowing in the proper direction is a little inconsiderate. I am seeing a lot of cabins coming available for the August repo cruise as well, but because the prices have been driven up so heavily by the early purchasers, DW and I will most likely not be able to go. I know I am going to get flamed heavily for these comments, but who can make plans to go on a two week cruise with two weeks notice? Very few people. But, those who would have legitimately planned a vacation last year to work in this once in a lifetime event now do not have the opportunity. I know there are some who legitimately intended on going and had to cancel, but I don't believe that relates to the number of open cabins.

<donning asbestos underwear - boy are these things itchy>

Tiggerking....I agree with you 100%!!!!

I was just poking around the DCL site for the Western repo and it looks like Cats 12, 11, 10, 4 all are on GTY status (maybe some folks will at least get upgraded!). Cats 9 & 8 show 8 cabins available each (do not know if they only show 8 at a time) and Cat 6 shows 1 cabin available.

So, right now it looks like at least 17 cabins available....I based my searches on 2 adults.

I was also surprised that I received E-mails from two different interline agencies with rates for that cruise.. It is a good deal, too bad I can no go... :earboy2:

I am one of those who booked on the first day, then had to cancel. We had every intention of going, and at first it seemed like DH's work would allow him to take the two weeks off (heck he gets over 6 weeks vacation a year) but his work told him just a couple of months ago, that 2 weeks in a row wasnt going to happen....

Sooooo there are some of us out there who booked thinking we could go, only to find out we couldnt.

Sorry

No need to be sorry.....I think the the poster was refering to all those people who really had no real intention of going but just got caught up in the frenzy of the day..... Of course there are some who legitimally had to cancel like you.

there were people that booked multiple rooms .. they booked themselves via DCLs website, then through 2-4 different TAs .. "to make sure" they got in .. and they got in alright, sometimes with several rooms when they only needed one  That's what the previous poster was referring to....

Exactly! That is what drove the prices up so quickly...every couple of hours really. People who put in a request with a TA for a room paniced when they didn't hear something within an hour or so & decided to book a room just in case their TA didn't get one. I remember the craziness on the board then. The prices at the beginning were good but by the end of the day they had more than doubled.

Wish I could take off 2wks and go....also win the lottery to pay for it..... :rotfl2:

I just looked at cruisequick.com and prices for the August repo startd lower than 7 nights in August! I priced an 11 on 8/6....about $3000. Not bad.

Usually, 45 days out DCL sends a "demand letter" for final payment, then call and cancell.......that's what happened.

Trust me guys... if you check out the Cruise Meets thread for that cruise... there are about 300 Dis'ers coordinate there that are going.

Some of us were fortunate enough to get our GTY room upgraded already and have received our docs. But believe it or not.. there is a bunch of folks that haven't gotten their docs yet..... with only 18 days to go.

I don't think the boat is sold out.. but there is something going on over at DCL about this sailing.

It looks like this will be a DIS cruise. Too bad you couldn't get a group rate! :) Hmmm...wonder if DCL is letting your final total adjust to what it is now listed for if it is once again that low. They usually do that. The planner in me would be going nuts without knowing anything that would behappening for the two weeks on the ship as far as dining or themes. Hope that all of you have a fantastic time! Wish that we coule go!

You Can Still Get decent prices for the August Repo..

Sorry I Heard there are not alot of cabins left ..

For the May Repo. We Booked one and plan on using it..

17 day til we leave...

That's exactly what my DH said! He's off work for STdisability and we'd love to cruise, but alas not enough $$$$. Ed Mcmann hasn't knocked on our door yet. MY DH could easily heal his ACL/Minicus transplanted knee on a big red boat with no problem!

The repositioning cruises this year are 14 day cruises to "reposition" the Disney Magic to California thru the Panama Canal in may and back to Florida in August....

We would have loved to go and probably would have paid the $$$ but both cruises would make the kids miss almost 2 weeks of school. Our kids get out May 25 and go back around Aug 12 so we could not go...and we did not have anyone willing to watch at least 2 of our kids while we are gone.... :confused3

Yep, I was disappointed when I saw the dates....our kids are in school during the May trip and would go back to school during the August trip. I have been through the Panama Canal and to Alcupulco and it was a great cruise.
